Before I tell you this story I would like to pass on a simple life lesson that I had learned from the experiences from this story. Love your family. Thank them for the sacrifices they make for you. Visit with them as much as you can, because they can be taken from you at anytime. Once they are gone, you will constantly wish that you had that opportunity to thank them for everything they had done for you that at the time you may not have appreciated at the time.

I will never forget this particular time in my life. It was the year 2003. My parents received a phone call from some of our relatives saying that my great grandfather had gone into a coma and he was likely going to be passing away very soon. We lived 3 hours away from my great grandparents but at this point none of that mattered. I prayed to God that my great grandfather would stay alive until after we had arrived. Thankfully, God granted me that wish.

When we arrived I saw my great grandfather laying in his "hospital bed" which was set up in my great grandparents dining room. It was my great grandfathers wish to pass away at home so he could also be with his loving wife the entire time. I sat next to my great grandfather as much as possible and held his hand. I told him how much I loved him. When I said this he squeezed my hand.

Then the time came. I remember one of my relatives saying that he was leaving us. I ran into the kitchen and yelled for my great grandmother to come quickly. I've never seen my great grandmother move so fast. She ran to his bed and grabbed onto him.

"Oh John", she cried out.

She then looked up at my great grandfather.

"John?"

Just before she said "John" my great grandfather had stopped breathing. My aunt looked for a pulse, but could not find one. Time stood still. Everyone in the room was silent. We all then said our final goodbyes. My great grandfathers body would later be taken out of the house. This I did not handle so well.

During this time frame I was the owner of my first paranormal team called the T.P.O. Squad. I had just begun to receive my equipment. Unfortunately, I would not be able to use this equipment at their house. My family had not accepted the work that I was doing at this point.

I barely experienced any paranormal activity when it came down to my great grandfather. My mother on the other hand was a different story. She kept on having dreams of him saying that he was fine. At one point, she was on the computer and all of the sudden an image of Christ appeared on the screen. She could not get it to come off the screen. She then tried to shut the computer down. The computer was shut down but the image of Christ remained. She had to unplug everything in order for the image to come off the screen. All of this happened soon after his passing. Eventually, these types of occurrences would cease.

I began to grow more and more anxious to figure out how spiritual activity could occur. After several years of little progress, I began to evaluate what the mission of my team should be. Instead of just investigating the paranormal and trying to be a superior team I felt it was time for me to grow up and a develop an actual mission for the team. With that said, many changes were going to be needed and the team would have to become more serious about the work which the team members of the T.P.O. Squad were not willing to do. It was at this point I decided to disband the team and develop a new one. The new team would be called the "Paranormal Security Department".

In January 2006 I would begin recruiting. It wasn't until I entered college where I would be able to recruit anyone who wanted to take the paranormal serious. The team grew larger than the last team and we began our journey. It was the teams mission to not only investigate the paranormal, but to also do some experiments here and there to figure out how the paranormal works in the hopes of reconnecting lost loved ones with each other.

On May 21st, 2010 I would receive a phone call while at work. My great grandmother had just passed away. I had not seen her for awhile now. The worst part was we moved her into a nursing home that was only 15 minutes away from me. There was now no excuse for me not to see her. She would always ask about me and say how much she loved and missed me every time I went to see her. Even if we didn't talk to each other much while visiting we would both smile at each other. I rarely visited though. I should've visited her daily and kick myself everyday knowing that she was only 15 minutes away from me Thought of her sitting in her room by herself waiting for a visit from me tugs at my heart every time I think of her. Both my great grandfather and great grandmother helped me in so many ways so I could become a success. So many great things did for me and yet I took it all for granted. You would think that I would've learned my lesson after my great grandpa passed. Obviously I was still really immature!

I left work and rushed down to the nursing home. I walked in and just stood there in her room in silence. I stood next to her bed and felt a touch on my left shoulder. My Intuitive Consultant on my team would later confirm that it was my great grandfather who was next to me. At this point I leaned over towards my great grandmothers body, gave her a kiss and whispered to her to give me a sign at her old house that she is still around.

We arrived at my great grandmothers house. During our first night there, my brother Jeremy and I decided to pull out some of our paranormal equipment to try can capture any video, photographs and/or audio responses from our great grandparents. We wanted to try an experiment too. We cut a hole at the bottom of a plastic cup and stuck an external microphone from our audio recorder through the hole at the bottom of the cup. We were thinking that if great grandpa or great grandma spoke into the cup, the cup would make it so that the sound waves would towards the microphone more and we might be able to hear them better.

This thought process came after doing several investigations that led to me realizing that I had made some errors while researching EVP's. You can read about that here: https://steemit.com/science/@paranormalpuzzle/mistakes-of-a-paranormal-researcher

After we completed our mini investigation, I listened to the audio recorder and heard what I thought was a response. The voice was deep and said "Jeremy...the key". I thought it was my great grandpa, but after reviewing the video footage and comparing the audio to the video, I found out something strange. It was me talking! The cup that we had put over the external microphone altered my voice and what I had said! There were many words missing from when I was talking about Jeremy and the key. That night we did not capture any evidence at all, but I was completely perplexed at how a cup with an external microphone within it caused some of what I said to go missing and for my voice to change so much. It sounded just like an EVP and honestly had me fooled at first!

It was now the night before the funeral. My family was sleeping at my great grandparents house. During the night there was a thunderstorm. I had fallen asleep in the living room on one of the couches closest to the dining room. All of the sudden I was awoken out of a deep sleep.

"Oh John", a female voice called out from next to the couch.

I thought I was just waking from a dream of hearing my great grandmother calling me so I just closed my eyes again. But immediately after closing my eyes...

"John!"

That time I knew I had heard the voice and that was not a dream! My heart began to pound, but then I thought to myself that it's my great grandmother and I wanted to see her. I knew it was her voice. I turned towards where the voice came from and saw nothing. I was VERY disappointed! But I did call out to her and say that I heard her and thanked her for letting me know she was there.

The next morning, I would approach my mother who said she had a hard time sleeping. I looked at her and asked her if it had anything to do with seeing or hearing great grandma. She stopped and stared at me for a bit. She then said that she had an experience the same night during the thunderstorm. She awoke and heard the sound of the ceiling fan turning off. In this house, you have to turn a knob in order to get the fan to turn off. The knob makes a clicking noise which indicates that the knob can not be turned anymore. My mother her that click. She then said that she told her great grandmother that she loved her, but what was going on was freaking her out. My grandmother also had experiences in her room that night as well.

After we left the house for the final time I sat in the car ride home reflecting on everything that happened with the spiritual events that I had experienced while there. I had already made a stupid error once when it came to EVP's that took me several years to notice and I was certainly not going to make another error like that again!

Then it dawned on me...THUNDERSTORMS!!! Could that be the answer?! I went further back into past and remembered that during the haunting I had experienced at my own house, I would see more ghosts and hear them! I then recalled all of the stories that people told me or posted online of their experiences during thunderstorms. Was this a clue??? Could it be that if I understood everything there is to know about thunderstorms that I could figure out once and for all how a ghost manifests, what a ghosts composition is and how they speak?!!!

I now had a new lead for my research which would cause the Paranormal Security Department to develop a theory called the "Thunderstorm Effect" theory! This theory was the VERY theory that would catch the attention of Dr. John Foldy.

My journey on the path to communication continues to this day, but thanks to my great grandmother and an experiment my brother and I conducted, we are getting closer day by day on figuring out the mysteries of spiritual activity!
