In the old days, the engineers were very creative and in this video below, you can see a design of a vertical drilling machine in action.
Wow! Imagine operating this machine under full production conditions. A machine belt that can rip your pants off if a leg is caught. A spindle that can choke you if your tie get's caught and I think that this machine is a safety officers nightmare.
And of course the production manager will pull his hair out, as this machine would perform at a snails pace. No wonder that they built the old cars so well, as the makers had a lot of time on their hands hahaha
It is that when I see this that I realize how we have sped up our modern lives. Today we can assemble an amount of cars in a month that would have taken a year to assemble in the old years.
