...and so, we crawled along at 20kph for awhile.
It is said that speed kills, and in this case, there was no speeding to talk of. Just an ultra slow drive until that machine turned off wherever it was going. Always such a relief to return to normal driving again.
I have three shots of the machine and then a nice surprise that I found in a public parking lot. But you will have to wait to see it after the three machine shots.
There is a lot of development going on here in our town, as people continue to stream into the Cape from the other provinces up north, and everyone wants to buy or rent a house, the problem is that there are not many houses here, such as in a big city. And now all of the public services are being overloaded. I don't think that the town planners, years ago, thought that they would see so many new residential blocks opening up all over the place.
In any case, come and see what I have to share.
This is what we call a back acter, and probably it will dig trenches for the laying of new piping.
And now here is the surprise below.
We don't have a TV, and we come to this center as they have big sport screens when the big matches are on, and on this day, it was the first rugby test between the All Blacks and the Springboks. Sadly, the Springboks lost the first test, but as the All Blacks are on tour in South Africa, there are still three tests remaining to play. So, anything can happen at this stage between these two great teams. We shall wait and see.
I wonder if you know what car this is. It is obviously a classic that has been kept in a great condition.
The only identification at the back is that word "Grace".
Just another shot to give you an idea of what it is.
For those that know, yes, it is a Ford Fairlane, and I know that there is a big and growling V8 engine in it.
I come from a time when all the cars looked similar to this one, meaning that it was in the 50's and 60's. Those guys, like the town planners that I mentioned above did also not know what the modern cars would look like. In those years, heavy materials were used to build the cars, and nowadays everything is plastic and light metals. With the high gas prices, this car will not be very economical to drive as that big V8 motor gets very thirsty, and it can cost quite a packet to fill its tank. But one has to remember that in the days of these cars on the road, gas (petrol) was much cheaper, as its price has increased more than 20 times over the years.
Such is life.
