Organic vegetables are grown here, but a big surprise awaited us!

Imagine that! This old house used to belong to a mayor in the 18 hundreds!

We met the owner and he told us all about the place.

Imagine having a front door like this?

Even the plants are old, as this guy is a huge size Lol.

Here is the surprise, in 1840 the travellers used to stable their horses here for feed and rest before they crossed the feared Sir Lowry's pass over the mountains.

Untouched and in original condition, this is a heritage building!

At the back here you can see the modern Sir Lowry's pass on the mountain.
Now think how you would get a wagon and oxen over that mountain when there was no pass.
They used to disassemble the wagons at this side, hoist the parts over the mountain with thick ropes and assemble the wagons at the other side.

Here's the old owner in his tomato patch. They have just cleared the spinach patch next to it!

Look at that healthy spinach that Marian is holding here. No chemicals are used on the crops and we got them snails and all hahaha.

The tomatoes are also non contaminated and you can see how nice they look!

Just a last look at the windows of the house that I find so beautiful.

Oh! And finally one of the vegetable inspectors came to say goodbye to us!

Oh yes, the place is very old and the restoration blood in me was pumping. If those old doors and windows were taken down and refurbished it would really make a huge difference.
But here's the catch as the old man told us that when he dies, a developer is going to demolish everything to build new housing complexes.

So history will be erased in the modern name of "progress" and of course progress has a cousin who's name is money. The two of them are also responsible for destroying wetlands to build housing complexes. Of course each complex has tiny little gardens and a small green patch or two.
The current wild animal residents have either to compromise or to disappear.
What a story!
