The sea mist can almost be an artist, as it paints the sky with light colors.

Mist can be beautiful at times, as it really makes a color change.

We have the Atlantic Ocean a short distance away, towards the west, and when one of Cape Town's renowned winds drives the mist inland from the west, then it starts to paint the skies in light colors. Not your usual deep blues and bright yellows, and stuff like that, but rather a water painting mist at work. I have taken a few more photos earlier in the day, that I will do in another post as I wanted to combine some of the special things that we saw on this day.

Look how bleak the yellow looks behind the palm tree.

I left the dove on the roof peak in the shot, to show some abstraction.

And then, the colors started to wane as the dark was on its way.

And then, a big surprise!

A perfect V-shape of Sacred Ibis birds came over.

I followed them on the zoom with the camera.

Unscrambling the V here a bit.

And then, settling back into formation as they disappeared behind the trees.

This Ring-necked Dove watched the show with me in the late sun.

One can never know what the day, or in fact any day over here, can bring, but I am used to getting surprises. Many say that I am lucky to get the shots, but my favorite retort is to tell them that I was just in the right place at the right time. Yes, it takes patience but now at my age I have an overload of patience. The funny thing here is that we think that time is going faster.

I don't know about you, but to us the hours have become much shorter. The mornings fly by, and before you know it the day is over. I don't know if it is only us that think this way, but we are convinced that the world is spinning faster. So, not only do we have the El Nino's and whatnot, that result in the devastating floods and landslides and such, but now we also have time rushing away.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
