Syphilis is a kind of disease that is transferred via sex that is Syphilis is a sexual transmitted disease/infection. It is a type of infection caused by a type of bacteria known as Treponema pallidum. Someone can have the infection for over a year and not show any symptoms but this depends on the type of individual infected and syphilis is better discovered early because that is the best time to treat the disease. It can only be spread through direct contact like sex and cannot be contacted through sharing of toilet. The infection has four stages which are primary, secondary, latent and tertiary stage. The first two are more infectious and tertiary is the most destructive to the health.
Primary, Secondary and early latent stage are easily treated with a penicillin injection but people who have negative reaction to penicillin should tell their doctor so as to look for alternative antibiotics like doxcylin or any other. Syphilis can be prevented by the following ways
1) Use protection (condom) when having sexual contact,
2) Avoid sharing of sex toy,
3) Use condom/dental dam during oral sex and
4) Faithfulness to partner: telling your partner on time about the disease to avoid continual spread of the disease.
