I think judging from only the individual's perspective is a shitty way of deciding morality.

For instance, a building can be described by different observers based on different perspectives. From the front, I can describe a building as small, while another would describe it from the side as long. So, if one were to conclude from only one perspective, it would be a fallacy.

Reacting to someone who says we should just get angry anytime we wish or permit dishonesty whenever we like would be like seeing the effect of our own medicine bouncing back at us. However, if we think that pride, dishonesty, and anger are good based on what we think or what others think, then we are also wrong.

Don't manage pride, dishonesty, competition, uncontrolled anger, or bad influence. Let people see you as someone with good character. Fight a good fight. Fight reasonably.

We should not do wrong just because it looks easier.

There was a time when my mathematics teacher gave us 120 questions, and we were to submit them the next day. 120 questions... it was really much. We didn't finish them. Many of us went straight to the answer key.

That day, I chose to do the wrong thing. The teacher asked us why we chose to do the wrong thing, and we explained why! That day, we learned our lesson! He said, "Wrong things look easy, but don't allow them to rule us."

Have you ever imagined a farmer planting maize that was meant to be eaten? He has to wait; he has to be calm for it to grow to a size that is marketable. Why didn't he shout at the maize? Why didn't he quarrel with it?

So, he choose calmness over anger!

Education, for instance, needs both the educator and the student. Additionally, a student's grade is not the fault of the teacher alone, it is the fault of both sides just like morality.

There are two things that are very important in any environment: knowledge and character. Character speaks for you where your knowledge can't. In schools, for instance, they congratulate us based on both knowledge and character. If, in any way, you dishonestly use your certificate for a dishonest thing, it can be withdrawn from you. Character!!!

Sometime ago, I also learnt something about life. A wealthy man in need of a barber called his gate man to get a barber for him. He called this barber who didn't have many customers. He noticed that the barber wasn't doing anything in his shop when he decided to call him. After cutting the rich man's hair, the rich man asked how much he should pay. As a man who hadn't seen a customer in a while, the barber said any amount was acceptable to him. He was paid 100,000 naira for a job that was worth around a thousand.

After doing his job, he didn't thank the gate man. He didn't visit him. He didn't appreciate the gate man who had directed him to the rich man who gave him so much for just a simple haircut. Later on, he noticed that the gate man didn't come afterwards. He also noticed that the man's hair was always cut short. When he narrated the story to someone else, he was old that his character had failed him. Morally, we are taught to always thank anyone who helps us, but he failed there.

Knowledge or education is way more than books, examinations, and certificates. There was a girl who, after graduating, posted online that she cheated her way through. The institution, on seeing that post, withdrew her newly issued certificate, and she was demoted to 200 level, which was devoid of CBT exams. The society and the school judged her, even when her conscience failed.

A case of an Uber driver surfaced on YouTube. The Uber driver, after carrying a passenger, suddenly stopped upon seeing a building which had just caught fire. He said to the passenger, "I will be right back." Immediately, he saved some kids from the burning house just before the house collapsed. Not knowing that the Uber driver was a reporter and writer, he hurriedly sped off to the station. His rescue operation was shared online by the reporter. Uber celebrated his actions.

Hmmm! He didn't neglect his conscience, because when asked what made him save others, he said, "Something told me to do so."

How much can you work under supervision? The real question is, how much can you do in the hidden? For instance, if you are presented as the supervisor or HOD, how do you carry out your duty? Your guiding principle should be your conscience. Don't be arrogant.

What are those things you do under pressure? Have you ever been so provoked that you curse your student? You forget ethics. You forget what is wrong or right. However, this is where philosophy comes in.

A system might normalise bad values when you, in one way or the other, know that it is wrong. The society can try to normalise something as right—just like the killing of twins, which Mary Slessor put an end to. Now, twins are considered a blessing; in fact, we have a name for it—Iya Ibeji.

So, I would say that the notion that one side decides morality is wrong.
