Hola querido hiver.

Hi, dear hiver.

How many times do we read a publication and feel that the author seems to be talking to us about our own life? And how many other times do their words manage to penetrate to the depths of our soul, moving us?

This initiative aims to pay tribute to these authors, rescuing pearls of emotion or wisdom, as the case may be, but always through their words.

Thanks to miriannalis@miriannalis for giving the initial push and providing this welcoming space. Thanks also to ecency@ecency and melinda010100@melinda010100 for supporting and sponsoring the initiative.

Who has inspired us with their words this week?

alt

Our author of the week is: esalcedo@esalcedo

Featured publication:

Una Catarsis sin igual - A catharsis without equal

Words that have inspired us:

During my time in college, I went through one of the most stressful times in my life where I felt frustration, sadness and a conglomerate of negative feelings. I think most of us have been there.

Leaving adolescence is indeed a transitional period that we all go through as we grow up. Like all change, we experience stress, which is the translation of our fears about the uncertainty of the future. At this stage we leave the protection of home to face the unknown, so such negative feelings are common. Success in dealing with them will be the demonstration that we have matured and are beginning to be those young adults.

The truth is that my emotional stability was at rock bottom and I couldn’t find a way out, until one day I got the opportunity to do something I really enjoyed, and that was acting.

It is amazing how in the midst of darkness we are able to find a light, a beacon to guide us in the immensity of darkness. Our author found it in acting, which is not surprising since it is an excellent way to try to be who we are not, to play and experiment without taking real risks, and its effects are more than beneficial.

That’s when I learned what it means to work for the love of art. That’s when I regained my peace of mind and got back on track with my responsibilities. Even though my time at that time was very limited, because of the rehearsals and the university I was very busy, I felt good, I felt at peace, I felt happy, and that feeling I had there I have never felt again.

The first sentence is beautiful. Working for love, be it acting, painting or carpentry, what difference does it make! The important thing is to find that passion that fills us and gives us those wonderful positive feelings that the author describes. He found a place where he was happy and at peace, that's all you could ask for!

It taught me that doing what you truly love and what fulfills you is the best thing in the world, and that art is an alternative medicine for many conditions.

Another sentence to frame. I especially liked the last part, because as an occupational therapist I know well the therapeutic effects that meaningful activities have for us. Without going any further, one of the subjects I studied during my degree was precisely theatre, in order to know how to apply it for the benefit of people with disabilities, mental health problems, or the elderly. As the author concludes, it is about freeing oneself by doing something that fulfils us, and that is health.
