Someone calmed me down off the ledge about my earnings after HF21/22 by saying "Everyone freaked out last time and it turned out to be OK. The witnesses know what they are doing and it will turn out OK this time as well."
This is my first hard fork. I can tell you that the last one did NOT go well for newbies, and I think this one has made it far worse. More on that some other time.
Today I want to post for a community - THE community - that was my life saver as a newbie. My posts for @freewritehouse have never made much in payout, but I got actual readers and unbelievable support. I stuck around.
Since all of our upvotes on posts for @freewritehouse are likely to be worth nearly nothing, I am offering 1sbi share to the first nine who write a continuation of my continuation (below) of this week's wewrite prompt https://steempeak.com/wewrite/@freewritehouse/we-write-5-the-photo-shoot-last-week-s-winner-announced. I have no idea if an sbi is more valuable to you than my 100% upvote, but I KNOW my upvote would be worth nothing to you. I'll go ahead and throw 100% upvotes in too just for the warm and fuzzies.
Don't forget to write for the actual contest too, because there is a sweet 5 sbi prize for the luckiest entrant on that one. Someone will be the lucky 6 sbi winner, and the rest of you can earn at least one sbi.
I'll be away for a few days, so give me a week. Love you all you crazy writers. Without you, I would be lost.
This Week's Prompt
by @zeldacroft
“I said drama, darling, give me drama!” shouted the photographer. His model squinted even more and tilted her head in front of the sheer white backdrop. Alexa watched with hesitant fascination from the catering table. The model had on what looked like an explosion of peacock feathers and six inch stilettos, which made Alexa grateful for her more manageable sandals. It was quite the walk across the studio space from the dressing room, which posed a surprisingly difficult task in the long, fur dress she’d been put in.
“I’d avoid anything with sauce,” advised a model joining her at the table. Alexa had maintained a steady stream of mini-quiches to sate her nerves, and was reaching for the shrimp. “Unless you want to see the bill for that dress, that is.” The girl gestured her long nails to Alexa’s outfit before clawing a nearby strawberry.
“Oh, uh, thank you,” Alexa pulled her hand from the food. “My name’s Alexa, I’m new.”
“I can tell,” the model raised one of her chiseled eyebrows and smiled. “Genevieve. You might have seen me in last month’s Vogue? Page 22.”
“Oh, yeah,” Alexa nodded her head. She didn’t have the courage to confess to not reading it or any fashion magazine, really. She had read that this gig paid better than her usual work for commercials.
“Be the peacock! You are a beautiful bird, now fly!” The photographer was now flapping his arms between shots, his calls echoing through the studio. The avian model still looked intensely blasé in expression.
“Hey, can I ask you a question?” Alexa ventured. Genevieve flipped her hair over her shoulder and looked into Alexa’s eyes.
“Shoot.”
My continuation
"Does someone here have a cat?"
"I'm sure several of us have cats. Why?" Genevieve responded, barely opening her mouth so as not to sully her professionally applied lipstick.
"Because I am feeling..... " and quietly onto the floor Alexa went, out cold and covered in fur.
Genevieve stood there carefully, letting out only the tiniest of gasps. She was trained as a very small girl how to behave on set - move as little as possible, speak never, and make no decisions of her own. "Let the adults get that honey" when she was a kid had morphed into, "Let the professionals do that lovey." Faced with a passed out woman at her feet, G stood there frantic but motionless and thought about what to do.
She motioned discreetly to the catering captain, careful not to disrupt the shoot. Again, she'd been trained and trained well. The fewer distractions you caused, the more work you got, and did she ever need more work right now.
The cute captain had noticed Genevieve long before this. He liked to choose his favorite among the models on each set, and today that was Genevieve. These were his favorite gigs, photo shoots. But he was not allowed to speak to any of the models on set and never had. Here was his fave-du-jour motioning him over as if she did not want anyone to see but him! Tom put his best foot forward, which for him meant sauntering, and headed slowly over.
End of five minutes.
This is my entry to https://steempeak.com/wewrite/@freewritehouse/we-write-5-the-photo-shoot-last-week-s-winner-announced I wrote this as a five minute freewrite, but contestants to either contest can do whatever they would like.
