I got very few of last week's black raspberries. I wasn't out there early enough most days to get some before the birds had stripped the plants of every single ripe berry. I've been hoping the sticky hairs on these wineberries would deter birds, but here the berries are, and the very first berry to open was gone before I could get out there today. I hear they are delicious, a bit on the watery side baked in a pie, but good raw in a dessert or a salad.
And here is my cat-dog! Both Jimmy and Patches come running when I call.
My daughter Lily told me she was going to train Patches as a hiking cat and I scoffed at that idea (as IF a cat would follow along on a hike). But here she is, she follows me on my daily walks, and she comes when I call her. Not right away like the dog, but in a round-about cat way. And just look at that face!
I might be the only resident in my suburban hamlet to appreciate a patch of clearweed, thistle, virginia creeper and poison ivy, but I think it's pretty. I let a huge stand of thistle go two years ago, watched happily as goldfinches flew off with the copious fluff, and feared thistle would be everywhere the next year but it wasn't!
Instead, it's everywhere THIS year. Oopsie!
I love taking my walks with posting about them on Steem in mind. It makes me appreciate what I find there much more. I'm finding the holiness in everyday walks. Thank you!
Shoot! I forgot to say all images are mine! I think that's pretty obvious though. I really need to step up my image game.
