those whiffs while we walk
are like being visited
by an old lover
did I use logic,
or was I told by the plant?
thought in a garden
the empty porch swing
reminds me of my mother
singing to babies
an early morning
brings me a robust vigor
to sit on my porch
crows flying overhead
snakes slithering underfoot -
all is well today
beets and turnips
with chervil and yogurt cheese -
my delightful lunch
and then a coffee
with a blueberry muffin
to finish lunch off
How nice to be writing poetry again! These are all in a haiku style of the 5/7/5 structure. They are not really haiku in a classic sense, but I hope they haven given some of you a little thrill.
