Rather than spending hours and hours a day writing and checking on my Hive posts, I've been arguing politics on FaceBook for hours and hours a day. I know, I know, some of you might remember that I came to Steem nearly two years ago to escape the negativity - let's say it, the hate - on FB.
The sad truth is that, while I have been posting entertaining poetry and fiction for my online Steem/Hive friends to peruse, I have been very busy alienating my dearest in-the-flesh friends and closest family members by posting comments like the following on FB.
Earlier today, a staunch defender of the government's right to tell its citizens how to live their lives posted, and agreed with, something that suggests musicals can go back up on stages as long as the actors don't sing.
She has blocked me. It must have been something I said.
Many liberals read 1984 when Trump was elected president, so that they would recognize the signs of totalitarianism when Trump started cracking down on our freedoms. Now that the condition actually exists in the United States of America, the same liberals are asking for more.
That's my problem with this whole thing - the entire world has been shut down on mere speculation. We have been utter fools to go along with this, and we did it willingly. We will do it again and again. Someone in the government just has to say so, no proof required.
Gratuitous Trump hate is the reason you feel the way you do about her (McEnany's) integrity. Gratuitous Trump hate determines what you think about a woman, and it has determined what you think about a lot of women, who all also happen to be conservative thinkers. Conservative thought has nothing to do with Trump, but most liberal thought now has everything to do with Trump. Thus, many liberals have false ideas about what it means to be a conservative woman. Half the women in the US do not respect the other half of the women in the US. If we want to get any good done in the world, we women need to get it done together.

Does feeling outraged make us believe we are on a higher moral ground? Or does believing we are on a higher moral ground help us feel justified in our outrage?
