There are many unhelpful and downright hurtful things people say in regards to someone with a mental disability or illness. Things like "Snap out of it". You can't snap out of a heart attack, so why do people tend to think you can snap out of depression, anxiety or schizophrenia? It hurts more than it helps.

1) STOP ACTING CRAZY

DITTO: Don’t be insane! or You are seriously unhinged

2) JUST DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT

DITTO: Calm down! or Don’t sweat the small stuff

3) THIS MAKES ME WANT TO KILL MYSELF

DITTO: I wish I were dead or This makes me want to commit suicide

4) THERAPY IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE WEAK

DITTO: I just don’t see the point of therapy or Can’t people just solve things on their own?

5) THINGS WILL BE BETTER IN THE MORNING

DITTO: Tomorrow is another day or Cheer up

The list I used for bullet points to talk about mental health in general like this is from psycom.

People don't realize how hurtful and demeaning these kinds of statements are when it comes to dealing with someone with mental health issues. In a future video I will detail some ways to assist someone who is mentally ill the proper way, nah, screw that, there's already a video for that.
