The one thing that the world is silently battle has to be the issue of mental health. Everyday we hear people talk about how it important to take care of our physical and spiritual health but we hardly see people talking about mental health in our part of the world. Honestly, it’s actually even a lot better now as go see to before.
The issue of mental health is slowly eating most of us up from the young ones to adults inclusive. Mental health is an important part of every humans life as it controls most of the things we do. Our mood, our productivity and almost everything about our everyday lives is hugely reliant on our mental health.
As we all know, there are some factors that affect our mental health in one way or the other and it’s actually difficult for everyone. For some, it’s family issues, financial issues or even work related. Then who have these that are pathological. Anywhere you belong on this spectrum, know that you need to seek help.
As someone who works in healthcare, I have seen first hand what neglecting your mental heath can do to you as an individual. You may think it’s too late but it really isn’t. If your work stressing you out? It’s okay to take a break. Call it a mental health break or whatever, it’s valid. Is life feeling overwhelming for you, cash out some money and go on that trip- if it’s the mental health break you need to go on.
At this point, I believe every worker should be entitled to some days off for their mental health. Not to sit at home but to seek professional help while also releasing some stress out of their everyday working environment. Most of the bad services you receive from service providers of what every kind is due to stress build up. Employees are mentally drained but the company is bent on draining the life out of them. You might say that some people will take advantage of something like this but hey, let’s focus on those who need this and will actually make good use of it. The goal is to do the right thing and not focus on what could go wrong. Let those who need it at least have it.
If employers don’t want to put an initiative like this in place I think the government can step in and handle this issue as a governing body. A mental health day for everyone. If possible it should even be a global thing cos the world really needs this. We don’t need to downplay the importance of our mental health in today world at all. We are gone past the days when we shy away from talking about some things. This is the issue at hand and it must be spoken about for the good of all humanity.
At the end of the day, we are only human and there’s a limit to what we can do. Let’s take are of ourselves because your boos already has a replacement for you. Put you first.
