Sometimes we find ourselves balancing precariously between facing our fears with courage, and retracting in to protect ourselves.
It’s important to understand our own natural tendency when challenged with a situation that makes us uncomfortable.
Do we hide away from fears, denying or ignoring their presence? Or do we immediately, sometimes impulsively, jump into fight mode and attack?
I’m learning to first just be with the sensations that come up for me in my body when my mind is agitated and fear is triggered. It’s quite amazing how much reaction we can have in our physical bodies to a perceived threat, even one that is just a projection in our mind.
It’s important to have a big tool box of techniques and practices that can help us ease anxiety and stress, while allowing us to further understand our own patterns and conditionings.
