After several weeks at work, David had gathered enough to repair his car, buy some toys and clothes for the girls, and take his wife to dinner. However, when he got home, he realized that something was not right, there was music, cars and many people could be seen from the window. David was very upset, but still kept his sanity, wondering how was it possible for his wife to throw a party without telling him? but he went on to enter his house, and saw his wife, family and friends in dispute, laughing, drinking and eating. In the background she saw her daughters, very happy playing with cousins and other children.

When he was going to start screaming, his daughters entered the room and the youngest hugged him, they began to kiss them, and tears began to come out of David's eyes, he barely held back, but he could not explode in front of his daughters. David era un hombre de familia, había perdido su trabajo y con él su estabilidad económica, sin embargo lejos de echarse a morir o de ponerse a llorar por su suerte, hizo todo lo contrario, se reinvento y comenzó a hacer cosas que nunca había hecho, y cuando tenía laguna duda planteada así mismo por su ego profesional se decía, “Vale la pena no te mortifiques, es momentáneo, no importa que seas ingeniero y que ahora estés de obrero, pronto volverás a ejercer, lo importante es que no falte el pan en la mesa, que no le falte nada a los niños y que se paguen las deudas”.

Con este tipo de actitud David venía saliendo adelante a pesar de las situaciones económicas que habían en su país y en toda la región. Su mujer le había planteado irse del país, partir como migrantes a otras latitudes, sin embargo David se negaba y decía, “Este es nuestro país, nuestra familia, nuestra casa, nuestros amigos, nuestra gente está acá, no voy a irme a trabajar de cualquier cosa y a ser maltratado, por ser extranjero en otro país, eso lo hago aquí, y aquí saldremos adelante juntos como familia”.

Y de hecho, las situaciones se habían ido superando, hubo momentos duros que hicieron dudar a David, pero siempre se mantuvo firme en su decisión de quedarse. Mientras que su mujer influenciada por las amigas y las redes sociales, lo presionaba para que salieran del país.

David, se esforzaba para dar todo a su familia, de hecho en este momento tenía dos trabajos, y de verdad había logrado salir adelante. Él le explicaba a su mujer y a sus niñas, que había una situación difícil y que si es cierto las cosas no podían ser como antes a nivel de gastos, no pasarían trabajo, ni limitaciones graves.

Las niñas recibieron las noticias, pero niñas el fin no las entendieron, sin embargo poco a poco se fueron adaptando a la realidad y a la poca abundancia de dulces, caramelos y juguetes. Cuando le preguntaban a los padres, la madre siempre respondía quejándose del gobierno y del país. Sin embargo David le explicaba a las niñas lo que pasaba en un lenguaje sencillo e infantil, hasta el punto que se los planteo como una suerte de juego, lo que hacia que para las niñas fuese más fácil ir llevando la situación.

Sin embargo, la situación con la esposa de David era diferente, estaba amargada, vivía pendiente de las redes sociales, hablaba del gobierno y de la situación llena de odio, hasta el punto que muchas personas ya la consideraban una persona toxica. David, intentaba hablar con ella, pero siempre terminaban discutiendo.

David, le decía constantemente a su esposa, te enfocas en lo que no tienes y descuidas lo que tienes, vives con el teléfono en la mano, crees todo lo que te escriben y lees en el Whatsaap, estas descuidando a las niñas y te estas enfermando con tanta toxicidad que consumes a través de las benditas redes sociales tus amigas y el teléfono. Sólo quieres gastar y comprar, por favor piensa lo que haces, haz gastado dinero par cosas importantes como los gastos y la comida, en sosas superfluas y sin sentido, por favor ya basta.

Este era el tipo de discusiones que tenía David con su esposa, sin embrago, él trataba de mantener la ecuanimidad y la entereza, trataba de mantener el equilibrio y hacía hasta lo imposible para que la situación de pareja y familiar no se dañaran. Eso obligaba a David a tragarse las molestias, las frustraciones y la impotencia que sentía, lo que se estaba convirtiendo en un peligro, dado que si es cierto se estaba llenando de lastre, también es cierto que no drenaba el mismo, lo que lo estaba convirtiendo en una bomba de tiempo que en cualquier momento podía explotar.

Los días fueron pasando y la vida le dio una nueva oportunidad a David. Un antiguo compañero de la universidad lo llamó para contratarle como Ingeniero Residente en una obra. David estaba emocionado, tenía más de un año esperando y haciendo todo tipo de trabajos para cubrir todas sus responsabilidades, pero ahora por fin ya se veía una luz en el camino y es tenía fe de que este sería su camino a la estabilidad económica nuevamente.

David le comentó a sus hijas y a su esposa, las niñas estaban jubilosas y no sabían la razón, pero era que simplemente David les había contagiado su entusiasmo su alegría y su esperanza. Sin embargo la esposa de David, amargada e inconforme como siempre hizo un comentario que casi opacó el momento de alegría del resto de la familia.

Gracias a ese comentario, David y su esposa discutieron y por primera vez David le grito a su compañera de vida, hasta el punto que las niñas se despertaron y entraron asustadas al cuarto preguntando qué pasaba. David, se tragó su rabia y su frustración, atendió a sus hijas, las llevó al cuarto, les leyó un cuento y espero a que se durmieran. David estaba muy cansado y molesto con la actitud de su mujer y se lo dijo de buena manera, antes de tomar sus enseres e irse a dormir a la sala.

Así pasaron los primeros días después de la discusión, David y su mujer, hicieron las paces y la vida continúo, sin embargo, aunque la situación económica estaba mejorando, David sentía que su mujer estaba insatisfecha, al parecer ella no entendía que las cosas no iban a ser como fueron antes, puede que fuesen mejor en un futuro cercano, o cercanas a lo que fueron, pero jamás serían iguales, esos tiempos ya habían pasado y las experiencias de vida los habían cambiado como personas y como familia. La única que parecía no madurar era su mujer.

Después de varias semanas en el trabajo, David había reunido lo suficiente para reparar su auto, comprar unos juguetes y vestidos a las niñas y llevar a su mujer a cenar. Iba contento a su casa pensando en como se divertirían y como darían un paseo en el carro por las montañas que estaban cercas de la ciudad o llevando a toda la familia a la playa.

Sin embargo cuando llegó a su casa, se dio cuenta que algo no estaba bien, había música, carros y se veían a muchas personas desde la ventana. David se molestó mucho, pero aún mantenía la cordura, se preguntaba ¿Cómo era posible que su mujer hiciera una fiesta sin avisarle?, pero siguió avanzando hasta entrar a su casa, y vio a su mujer, familiares y amigos controvirtiéndose, riendo, bebiendo y comiendo. Al fondo vio a sus hijas, muy contentas jugando con los primos y otros niños.

Ya al final de la tarde cuando se acabó la reunión, David entró a su cuarto y buscó el dinero, para sacar cuenta, ya tenía el presupuesto del camión que le iba a remolcar el carro al taller el de los repuestos y la mano de obra.

Su sorpresa fue ver que se había descompletado el dinero por una buena cantidad. Se molestó, llamó a su mujer, le preguntó que pasó con el dinero que faltaba y ella le dijo, que lo gastó en la fiesta. David le dijo, “Todo ese dinero, hasta hace un par de meses cada vez que la familia y los amigos, nos reunimos todos llevamos y poníamos, para aminorar los gastos”. La mujer le contestó, eso era antes, ahora ya estamos bien de nuevo, podemos vivir como antes.

David se enfureció, se dio cuenta de la inmadurez de su mujer, entendió que ya no podía confiar en ella, se sentía molesto, furibundo, las venas se le brotaban, estaba a punto de gritar e insultar a su mujer, toda la frustración, toda la rabia, toda la impotencia de años estaban a punto de salir en una explosión de ira.

Cuando iba a empezar a gritar, sus hijas entraron al cuarto y la menor lo abrazó, comenzaron a darles besos, y lagrimas empezaron a salir por los ojos de David, apenas se contenía, pero no podía explotar delante de sus hijas. Dio una excusa que ni su esposa ni las niñas entendieron y salió a la calle, cuando había caminado unos 200 metros de distancia de la calle, cerró los puños, cerró los ojos y de repente en esa enorme calle vacía, y en medio de la soledad que lo rodeaba, comenzó a gritar como loco, y dio un par de insultos, cayendo al final del ataque de ira sentado sobre la acera de la calle.

Se dio cuenta de la frustración y de la impotencia que sentía. De repente se acordó de lo que le decía a su mujer y se dijo a si mismo, “Bueno viejo, unas son de sal y otras son de arena. Si es cierto nos gastamos buena parte del dinero, por lo menos podremos arreglar el carro y cumplir con la mitad de los planes que teníamos. Y como bien le dices a tú mujer, piensa en lo que tienes y no en lo que no tienes, al final es lo que hay, la amas así como es y no la vas a cambiar”.

David, después del ataque de ira, se fue caminando a casa reflexionado y pensando en lo mucho que se iban a divertir en el paseo una vez que arreglaran el auto, sólo que no habría juguetes, ni restaurantes, pero nada es lo que hay se dijo y se dirigió a su casa pensando, en fin mañana será otro día.

Veo a un hombre lleno de impotencia y de frustración, el cual fue llaveado al límite de las mismas, lo que le obligó explotar en un ataque de ira, el cual le sirvió para drenar todas esas energías negativas dentro de si.
