There are so many strange statistics in this world but I would not allow myself to be included in the one that says that more than a third of the world population does not know the snow, did you know this? xD actually this was my 4th attempt to get snow xD, and well even though "third time's the charm" didn't come true on my fourth attempt I was finally able to achieve another of my weird dreams! xD I hope you enjoy my experience in the beautiful "Serra da Estrela".🤩🤩

Sometimes I have no words to describe how beautiful Portugal is because in such a small country you can find everything from tropical forests to snow, is it the most beautiful country I have ever seen? no! I would never compare Venezuela with a European country in terms of nature and landscapes! but Portugal has its own, I decided to take a family trip and have a great time in the "Serra da Estrela" as its name indicates, it is one of the mountains of Portugal located in the center of the country and that... It is the point tallest in Portugal, so he broke another personal record! my wife and friends told me: hey, dress very warm, it's too cold there! REALLY??? I COME FROM VISITING THE PICO DEL AGUILA AT MORE THAN 2500 METERS HIGH!!! That's why I miss Venezuela for the great variety of ecosystems! for example here we can not find a desert biome!🤔😮😮

It was a 200km trip from my house to the "sierra da estrela" but as we were going as a family I marked many places that you did not know in the center of Portugal such as staying one day in the beautiful city of Gois, you could say it was a trip without stress but with a little pressure in the sense that in winter when it snows the cars tend to slide a lot on the road and there are notices every km telling you to test your brakes for your safety! In spite of everything we were very lucky because it snowed a couple of days before going up to the mountains and to complete our good luck we ran into a sunny day so we enjoyed this experience to the fullest!🤩🌍🧭

On the "serra da estrela" there are many interesting tourist sites to visit from dams that are very old since they are the main source of energy in the towns located in the mountains and still continue to be a source of jobs, today this area is super tourist receiving thousands of tourists annually who come both in summer and winter! Well, then, since I'm visiting the highest point in continental Portugal, I'm supposed to come across "ski" slopes, and that's how it was! It is the only place in Portugal where you could ski, even if it doesn't snow, the municipal chamber invests in artificial ice and always has the track active!🤪🤯

🧓👩👨👧VALE DA NAVE TRAVESSA🚩🌍🧭

img_2509.jpg

img_2510.jpg

My first stop was at this point called "Vale da Nave Travessa" which would be a valley where the melted ice of the mountain keeps it almost full throughout the year, and as you can see in the photos it is part of a dam, we can find it on the southwest side of the mountain range and that it has a very interesting history since scientists believe that if we go back 30,000 years this area would be submerged in glaciers! It is more than 1000 meters high, let's say that it was already closer to the highest area of Portugal!😮😮

I was closer to my final destination which was 1993 meters, I was already beginning to feel a little uncomfortable cold but let's say that the cold does not affect me xD only my fingers, so I protected myself with gloves and in 15 minutes I was warm xD, from here everything It looks so small and we get an idea of how huge the mountain is, that is, we were talking about 100km in length, the type of stone caught my attention and since it was very easy to break, from experience I knew it was granite! I read that the mountains are more than 300 million years old, AMAZING!!!🧭😮🧠

This was when I had an "orgasm" hahahahha seeing snow for the first time and being able to play with it is one of the craziest experiences I've had xD, remembering that I grew up half my life in a tropical country! already at 1700 meters it was possible to see snow and although there wasn't much because being sunny it melts very quickly let's say we really enjoyed what little we got xD🤣😂

And ready we had reached the top of the mountain and well here the cold was quite hard but I did not feel that my body suffered! I think it's a pretty brutal environment with beautiful views! of course here when it snows we can find a cold of -15 degrees is another story! but there are those who visit the mountains in summer because despite there being no snow, the weather is super good! Of course this happens because our country has temperatures up to 40 degrees in summer xD There are those who don't believe me but I felt hotter here than in Maracaibo!😶😶

The golden towers that you saw in the photos that were actually viewpoints were built with a height of 7 meters, do you know why? 7+1993=.... heheh if you climb on the lookouts then you are 2000 meters high!😏😏
