Hey community :)

How cool is it to have Maracujas in your own garden, that's the best thing ever! We're in an Airbnb in the Dominican Republic right now and there's so much growing in the garden.

I didn't even know how Maracujas grew before and just saw the beautiful flower all the time! Until I cut open the apple-like fruit and was surprised to see what was lying around on the ground in the whole garden! It takes about 70 days from flowering to ripe fruit. Maracuja means the fruit with the yellow skin, the related fruit with the purple skin is called Passionfruit. Maracujas are ripe when it falls to the ground and should be eaten quickly. It's a bit of a shame to see that the owners don't really take care of the plants.

So great, in Germany 1 maracuja or passionfruit costs around 2-3 euros in the supermarket, and it doesn't even taste right! It just grows everywhere here. Unfortunately, it's not my own garden, otherwise, I would plant a lot more fruit and vegetables here.

In addition to the passion fruit, there are still bananas, pumpkins, grapes, tomatoes, and herbs and recently I planted a watermelon. We will probably not be able to harvest this anymore, we are only here for 2 weeks haha.

It's quite funny with the pumpkins, they have climbed so high that it now looks as if they were the fruit of the tree. I was wondering what was growing there.

In 2 weeks we'll start planting at least a few herbs on the balcony, I'll take you with me and show you if we succeed!

see you next time
