Hello lovely friends, hope you are experiencing a beautiful weekend at your end? As we approach the festive season I wish everyone the peace, good health and joy that is needed to celebrate the season with our loved ones. You already know that I love to bring you updates as regards my little business and I love to listen to feedback from you as well. When it has to do with being a good leader, I am not an expert at it but whenever the opportunity pops up, I try my best to learn as much as I can.

I am a very calm person and I do not even know how to raise my voice at someone, with my staff I try to be as serious as I am when speaking with them but I really don’t think I have ever been harsh at anyone before? This attitude has earned me respect with my staff on several occasions but there was a particular staff I employed that took my calmness for weakness.

When it comes to employing someone in a business, I now understand that it is a different ball game on its own and I have had to deal with several staff which turned different angles to my personality. The last staff I employed before the current one was a very calm lady as well and I did not have any issue with her working for me as a matter of fact when she told me she would be leaving I really wished I could make her stay but she had to continue her education, I felt it was best to let her go but I also remember hiring a staff some time ago who will always frown her face and look unhappy whenever I asked her to carry out a task, I was persuading her to change her attitude and was hopeful that she will begin to perform better but she was getting worse as the day went by and eventually I just had to let her go.

News reached me that she also worked for a month in the new place she got a job before she got fired, this made me realize that a bad attitude is definitely not going to help in securing a good placement for anyone. After my experience with that lady, I learnt to stand my ground on certain issues but also respect the opinions of my staff.

The fact that they work for me does not mean that they do not deserve to be respected, they deserve as much respect as I deserve also and I respect and understand that a lot. When staffs are respected and allowed to give their opinion, they offer a better service for the progress of the business.
