God is good and he extends his mercy to those who are sinners. He often protects people by giving them opportunities to repent rather than immediately judging them. Throughout Scripture, God's patience is meant to lead sinners to turn away from sin and return to Him.
We shouldn't take the advantage that God is protecting us and we continue to commit sin. While He may shield people from immediate consequences, the Bible warns that persistent, unrepentant sin ultimately leads to judgment. God's desire is for every sinner to experience forgiveness through repentance and faith.
