This is my response to "WE81 post topics: Design and create" You can also join the challenge here.
Special shout out to @galenkp for this opportunity to share as always. It gets better every week.
Topic:
Post a single photo, that means only one, from your phone camera and tell us about it: Where, what, when, why and also why you selected that particular photo to post about - What appeals to you about it and why you shared it.
When I first saw the title for this week, I said to myself, okay, I will sit this one out this week. Hahaha because I've never been the creative type especially with my hands. I am creative with my words and that's why I was so happy to this question. It's a huge relief, thank you sir 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃槀 for being mindful of people like me.
I specifically love this picture and I took it as far back as 2017 around April when I was still working in an agro-allied firm as an accountant in my place of birth, Ibadan; Oyo State. I can remember it so well because I used the front of my phone camera to take it (selfie) after having a trim of my beards that morning. I got to work earlier than everyone else, as usual, and I wasn't with the key. I was waiting outside for the manager to come when I got into the mood to snap a picture.
I love pictures, I love seeing pictures but not with me in it hahaha. I just love seeing pictures because I feel it is artistic. A photograph gives you a memory you can never try to recreate even when you are given the same condition to reproduce it. It's all about the moment and it's one of the many reasons why I love pictures but I don't usually snap much.
I particularly love this picture because it's about everything I have been through. I feel this picture is artistic because of the way I was looking ahead. I keep looking up to brighter and better days, trying not to be defined by the things I have gone through.
When I read @galenkp's post, I was really moved by it. In case you missed it, here it is: I Became Me I don't need to give a recap of it, just kindly read it. This picture I shared reminds me of my consistent effort to look ahead. It wasn't about the fear of what's to come but about my journey so far. I have learnt about strength and resoluteness through the things I went through.
Sometimes I feel alone in the world because I have no father to lean on or a mother to call me up to pray for me. I have to constantly fight for the things I want and I won't stop. I keep looking forward no matter how much the past tries to drag me in. I believe more better days would come. I don't mind being thrown to the wolves also, I know I would always come back leading the pack. If I have made it this far, I believe I can make it anywhere.
I am not defined by my past... I don't want the past to hold me down and that's why I consistently strive towards having a strong mindset and looking ahead. My background must not keep my back on the ground. I am not afraid to fall... As long as I can look ahead because if I can look up, then I can get up because it is my back that is on the ground, not my focus.
This picture reminds me a lot of the things I have gone through and how I am still hoping for that ray of sunshine. I believe it won't get easier because life would always happen but I know I won't give up either. Life also responds to pressure and I would keep applying it to attain my goals.
Your story encouraged me even further to ignore the critics over the applause @galenkp. I am even more focused and determined to make the best and the most of whatever life throws at me. I know it won't be easy but I know I have to keep looking ahead. There is no crime against dreaming big and as long as I am not out of focus, I know the future looks bright and that's why I am keeping my gaze. If I can see far, I can get there. I see the future ahead and I would do whatever it takes, legally, to get there.
Thank you for another weekend to remember... You are a blessing to us all. Merry Christmas to you all.
Thank you for your time.
