Hello everyone! This is my second entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today, I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. Have you ever had a game that is going so bad it makes you click the "Skip Battle" button, only to see that you won, in the end? And, after doing so, you have to rewatch the whole thing again, because by then you want to know how it happened. This is one of those games!

This game had the following rule sets: Reverse Speed, Fog of War, and Unprotected. It was a 51 mana cap game, with only Death and Fire available. I picked Lorkus and placed Grum Flameblade in front. I followed it up with Dark Arborist, Sorriel the Bale, Baron Fyatt, and Usut. For the final unit, I went with Arachne Weaver. They opted for Thaddius Brood and started with the Weapons Training combination of Grimbardun Smith, Skok Duskblight, and Will-o-Wisp. Usut and Venka the Vile were next. They also finished with Arachne Weaver. I gave Life Leech and Affliction to my last 2 units.

Ambush Round

My Baron hit their Usut, which was nice to make it less dangerous for the whole game.

Round 1

All the damage that I dealt to Grimbardun Smith was undone by their Weaver. Venka's attack dealt a lot of damage to my Grum.

Round 2

Again, both Weavers restored a lot of HP to our units. The problem is that my Grum was inflicted by Poison, while Grimbardun Smith is immune. Venka hit again and put my tank to 2 HP.

Round 3

Grum died to the Poison, and I started having much more trouble dealing damage. However, the end result was similar, since Grimbardun got healed back and it lost one max HP. They had the threat of Venka and Poison, but both missed this round.

Round 4

This time, Venka hit both of my front units, taking them out. That was a huge blow, leaving me with just 4 units left.

Round 5

They quickly eliminated my Baron, which never hit Venka. Fortunately, Venka missed their attack.

Rounds 6 to 10

The game seemed lost, but during all of these rounds, Venka missed all its attacks. Thanks to Usut's Life Leech and Heal, and Weaver's Corrupted Healing, it always stayed alive, even after getting Poisoned. The Oppress was also key in defeating the Grimbardun Smith. By round 10, I finally eliminated it for good, after one Resurrect. However, because of the Bloodlust, Usut had more speed, and Venka finally hit it.

Round 11

Still taking Venka's hit, it Usut got fully healed by the Weaver. Skok went down, and Vena hit again

image.png

Round 12

Oppress was key again as it allowed Usut to kill the Will-o-Wisp.

Rounds 13 to 16

It didn't matter that Venka was hitting my Usut at this point. With its attack increasing with every kill, the Life Leech became more powerful, and both types of healing were getting more effective every round. Each of their units went down, round after round. Their Weaver died to the Poison at the start of round 16.

This was a crazy game! It was super close, and it really seemed lost. Their Venka, despite the high speed, was dealing more damage than I could handle. It didn't miss much at the start, and I even have Blind. When it came to Usut, luck turned around, and I ended up winning a game that seemed lost.

What do you all think about this game? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!
