Welcome back Splinterfam!

Another week, another collection of updates for the Splinterlands Statistics site.

Most of the changes this week came from requests and feedback from dafiz@dafiz. Most of these requests made a lot of sense and resulted in some nice quality of life improvements. Thanks for helping me on this.

The biggest visible change this week is another improvement to the skin marketplace. You can now activate a skin directly after buying or delisting it.

There are also some smaller fixes around marketplace purchases, scrolling after transactions and the generated Hive posts.

So let's have a look at what changed.

Activate Your Skin Directly From the Dialog

Last week I added several improvements to the skin marketplace, including the outbid indicator.

This week the skin workflow got another nice improvement.
You can now activate a skin directly from the Buy and List dialogs.
That means after buying a skin you no longer need to close the dialog, find the skin again and then activate it.

Bought it?
Just activate it right there.

The same applies when you delist a skin. Once it is available again, you can activate it directly from the dialog.

It is a relatively small addition, but it removes a few unnecessary steps and makes buying and using a new skin feel a lot smoother.

There are also some checks behind the scenes to make sure the Activate button is only available when the skin can actually be activated.

This was especially important after listing a skin, because some of the Splinterlands APIs take a little longer than others to update. For a few seconds the numbers can disagree about how many copies you actually own.

The site now waits for that information to settle instead of accidentally showing an Activate button when it should not.

Find Cards Still Using the Base Skin

There is also a new filter option called Base Skin Active.

This one is especially useful if you own quite a few skins and, might have forgotten to actually activate some of them 😅

When enabled, it shows the cards where you own a skin, but the regular base skin is still active.

So instead of checking your collection card by card, you can quickly see exactly where you own a shiny skin that is currently doing absolutely nothing 😂

Combine this with the new activation options and it should be much easier to find those forgotten skins and put them to use.

No More Jumping Back to the Top

Another annoying little issue has also been fixed.

Previously, when you performed an action in one of the marketplace lists, such as buying, listing, delisting, transferring or activating something, the page refreshed its data.

Nothing wrong with that.
Except that refreshing the data could also send you all the way back to the top of the list 😅
Not ideal when you just delisted a skin halfway down the page and wanted to do something else with it.

The marketplace now remembers how far you had already scrolled after those actions.
Changing filters or switching layouts will still reset the list as expected, but simply performing an action will no longer throw you back to the beginning.

Marketplace Purchase Estimates

There was also a small fix to the estimated cost shown for marketplace purchases.

The site already shows the live cost, but the estimated amount used for the actual buy command now includes a 1.5% buffer.

This brings it in line with how the other marketplaces.

The important part here is that the displayed live price is still the live price. The buffer is only used for the estimated amount needed when preparing the purchase.

Some Cleanup Behind the Scenes

I also spent some time cleaning up the skins page internally.

The page had grown quite a bit with all the features added recently. Grouped skins, flat views, tables, filters, activation and all the marketplace actions were starting to make one component rather large.

So I split that into several smaller pieces.

For users there should be basically no visible difference here. The goal is simply to make the skins page easier for me to maintain and expand in future updates.

There was one tiny functional improvement included in that cleanup. When the activation dialog is missing the base card edition, it can now derive it from the skins in the group instead of falling back to edition 1.

Hopefully that means fewer headaches for future me 😅

Small Hive Post Fix

One very small update also made it into v1.20.1.
The support link included in generated Hive posts has been updated.
Nothing exciting, but at least people clicking it should now end up where they are supposed to 😄

Thanks Again for the Feedback

That is it for this week's Splinterlands Statistics updates.
A big thanks again to dafiz@dafiz for most of the requests and feedback that resulted in these changes.
I always appreciate people actually using the tools and then coming back with ideas, annoyances or things that could simply work a little better.

Keep the feedback coming!

See you in the next update, Splinterfam!
