Title: BW Insects
This year's increased number of insects makes it easier to find and photograph them. Certain varieties of insects have unique habitats, which means they are restricted to specific places. Water striders are aquatic in nature and can be spotted in huge numbers on a nearby pond.
Dragonflies are similarly attracted to the presence of water and are most commonly found near ponds. They rest on the tops of branches or plants, where they may also examine their surroundings and potential prey.
A large number of insects are usually found on plants and flowers. The smell of flowers and pollen attracts a large number of so-called beneficial pollinator insects. It is not an unusual sight to find several different types of insects on one flower.
