49th day of the war.
A couple of our friends has returned to Kyiv. They live in the suburbs, but do not want to return there now, because not all areas have been demined. So, they are staying in a friend's apartment in Kyiv, where it's safe, but wanted to go check their apartment and get some stuff there. So, we were babysitting their little daughter today. It's both wonderful and interesting to see how children react to all events that are happening. Children are quickly growing up, becoming more understanding and sagacious.

Today, I was positively surprised to hear how Joseph Biden reacts to the war in Ukraine by calling it 'genocide'. These words were said during a speech on rising US fuel prices. The US president mentioned (and I liked this phrase a lot) that the life of regular American citizens should not depend on the random wishes of some dictator who commits a genocide in some other country. Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded that calling a spade a spade is an important step in resisting evil.

On Good Friday, April 15, the traditional procession with the participation of the Pope will take place in the Colosseum in Rome. This year, the Vatican decided that a russian woman and a Ukrainian woman would hold the cross, which, in their opinion, should symbolize the "brotherhood" of the two peoples. Ukrainian diplomats are trying to explain how this gesture, to put it mildly, is now inappropriate. In my opinion, this is just a mockery. The myth of "fraternal peoples" was destroyed back in 2014, when the russians illegally annexed Crimea and started a war in Donbas. And to say that the russians and Ukrainians are "brothers" in 2022 after everything that has happened is even cruel.

Easter is a great, holy and long-awaited holiday for many Ukrainians, For my family, there has been a tradition of visiting my grandparents' house in the Mykolaiv region for the holiday. The whole extended family, which is more than 20 people now (my grandparents have 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 6 greatchildren). gathers on this day. I'm not sure if we'll have a chance to visit our parents this Easter, which is next Sunday for us. I'd really love to, though, it's a great day for praying, for kindness, for uniting. This is what everyone in our country now needs so much.
