I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. One thing I have come to realise over the years is that what you do not know, you might never know until you meet someone who knows it or something that can actually tell you and teach you about that thing you do not; otherwise, you continue to move without the knowledge of that thing. Knowledge does not just come to you; you go to it and put in the effort needed to acquire it. When artificial intelligence (AI) first of all started trending and making waves online, I never bothered to adopt the use of AI even when friends around me were using it.
I was one of those who felt AI would make you less creative and would stop you from putting in the work. No doubt that our world is now filled with people who were once creative but can no longer be as creative as they used to be, all because they now completely rely on AI to get the things they used to do themselves done, and one thing with creativity is that if you leave it, it returns the same energy and leaves you, but if you stick with it, you get better at it. So relying on AI and not wanting to put in the work only makes you lazy, and over time you become less creative.
That is how bad AI has affected our world; we now have fewer creative people and fewer people wanting to put in the hard work or wanting to go through the long process when AI can do it in seconds. I saw all of that and felt AI would make me less creative until I was schooled by a friend who was into graphic design. He said AI is a blessing to him, and they have made his designs better than ever, not because AI designed them for him but because he designed them himself and used AI to better them, and when he showed me his old designs and those he asked AI how to better them, the difference was clear.
I also attended a webinar on Zoom where I learnt that AI will only replace you if you let it; rather than let AI replace you, take advantage of it and use it to benefit you, which is exactly what my friend has done, and even clients commend his work. He is the one behind the creative idea but uses AI to make necessary adjustments before sending them to clients, and most of the time they love it. He stays creative while still using AI.
So many creative people are saying AI is replacing them and are now discouraged about being creative, but that is not true at all. AI only gets to replace you the moment you rely completely on it, but if you use it to better your skill and field, you stand a chance in the competitive world that we live in. We cannot get AI to leave, for it has come to stay; we just have to adopt ways to use it in ways that favour us and keep us in the market rather than relying on it completely.
