Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog. We all have our preferences when it comes to what we eat and drink; some prefer light food, and some go for heavy food. I am an African, Nigerian to be specific, and I am yet to travel abroad, but I have relatives who have been there, and when they come back for the holiday season, they come back with a lot of goodies from overseas. We have tasted them and compared and contrasted them, but I think many will still choose our African food over western foods.

The role food has to play in human life cannot be overemphasized. Those days, I used to be in school from 8 a.m to 6 p.m, and I am not one who likes to eat breakfast, so most of the time I am likely to leave the house without eating anything, and I will be in school till 6 p.m without eating, not even snacks. That's when I realized the importance of food. Without food, the human body feels weak, and in most cases, one starts to feel sick, but once you eat, you start feeling energetic again. Food is one of the major things required to sustain life.
I was born and brought up in the northern part of Nigeria, which made me like their foods more than those of the easterners, which is where I belong, and this only helped convince me that the environment we live in has a great way of influencing what we like and what we don't like. I will always choose an African delicacy over the western delicacies, not because they are bad but because I was raised with the African delicacies.
In subsequent paragraphs, I will share with you why I prefer the African delicacies and will choose them over and over again over the western delicacies.
They are more natural: My relatives returning home from overseas always come back with canned food, and they say that's what they eat mostly over there, and you must agree with me that canned foods are no longer natural as preservatives have been added to avoid spoilage. Down here in Africa, we do more natural, directly from the source to the pots, without any preservatives.
Quite Affordable: Sometime back, I visited Kilimanjaro restaurant here in Nigeria and made an inquiry about a particular meal on the menu. The amount it cost left me in awe, while African delicacies did not cost even half that amount. The waiter said it's because the meal is Italian cuisine. I told them to bring what I could afford.
Easily prepared: You really don't need to be a chef before you can cook an African delicacy, nor do you need to undergo any special training, but if you ask me, I'd say you need special training and care to prepare the western delicacies.
