Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the hive learner's featured post. Over the years one thing I have learnt about getting scammed is that we get scammed most of the time because we trusted the wrong people, and sometimes we are scammed because of our greed. I think these are two major reasons people get scammed. Trusting those who present themselves as trustworthy people is all for them to have an ulterior motive, and also when we let greed kick in, we tend to fall for scams. Sometimes I don't really feel bad that those who let greed control them fall for scams because the signs were there, but you ignored them completely.
No doubt that sometimes you just cannot be careful enough about getting scammed. I totally understand there are some types of scams we fall into that are just beyond our control, and there are some that we fall into just because our greed blinded our eyes and we ignored all the red flags and were only looking at the reward or profit promised. Every scam hurts both the victim and those around them. Sometimes I don't feel sorry for those who fall into a scam because their greed blinded them despite trying to warn them, but because the profit or reward was too good, you decided to hop in.
Some months ago while I was living in my uncle's house in Aba, there was this trend of a Ponzi platform called NRC, and it was paying people thousands and even millions. NRC became the talk of the town, and everyone wanted to join. Those who were part of the platform said it had been in existence since October 2025, while some said it just started in February 2026, and some even went as far as saying the platform had been in existence for ages but was only known in the northern part of the country. Trust me when I say you can walk past 2 woo without hearing at least one of them talking about NRC.
Those who have not joined were under so much pressure to join because clearly it is paying off those that have joined; the bonuses and the reward for members were becoming too real to be true. Personally, I had a lot of people approach me to join, but I have promised myself to not join Ponzi schemes again after I found Hive because before Hive I was really into it, and I knew how it worked, so all that pressure meant nothing to me because my heart was completely shut, and I was not willing to take any chances. Slowly the pressure started getting to my uncle, and he approached me and asked for my opinion on whether he should join NRC or not.
I told him not to, especially considering the type of bonus they started dishing out around the end of June 2026 and the first week of July 2026; that simply means they are trying to lure more people in, and then they will close down after all they have won people's trust and made them believe that they have come to stay. While we were still talking, his wife was eavesdropping and weighed in immediately. She claimed, 'I don't want him to make money, and he should not listen to me and just invest. After all, those that have invested don't have two heads, and they are making it.'
On the 5th of July 2026, he invested a huge sum of money only for NRC to close down on the 7th of July; he was scammed of his hard-earned money through a Ponzi scheme. I know if not that his kids were there, he would have cried his eyes out; it was a very terrible experience seeing him in that state of confusion and emotional distress. He ignored all the red flags and only placed his eyes on the reward thanks to his wife's advice.
