I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. Lately we have more content creators than we can actually count, which makes the possibility of seeing pictures of you or videos of you in places you least expect very possible. These days we see pictures of us in places, and we start to ask how, when, and why because we do not even have a memory of making that video or taking that picture, and that is because someone else did that for us, and I don't know if I should say it was a favor or they invaded our privacy.
Just last week, on Wednesday, a friend of mine sent me a video of a vlog a girl did on TikTok, and he saw it. She was talking about how she went for her brother's graduation and did a video from her house down till the part where she saw her brother at the venue. My friend sent me the video because I was captured at least 3 times in the video without even knowing. I did not even notice the girl doing the video, but I kept getting recorded without even knowing. So what if I were hiding? Maybe I have people looking for me; that means she has just exposed my little hideout in the name of vlogging.
So I will be moving around not knowing if a video of me or a picture of me that I did not post is somewhere online and without even knowing if I was okay in the video or not, and those that don't even know you will use whatever they see in that video to judge you or draw a conclusion about you. Lately people are no longer free outside, people cannot even be themselves because you don't even know who is in a corner making video or taking pictures of you to post on social media. These content creators don't even care if you want your face on social media or not, they choose for you.
We cannot even have hideouts again because these content creators will expose your hideout before you even know it. She might not have done it intentionally, and I think that is fine with me since it was not intentional, but when you go on TikTok, Facebook, or Instagram, you see videos where people were doing one thing or the other, and then somebody they don't even know is recording and has the camera focused on them in the name of wanting to create content for their followers. This is the type I have a problem with, and I support that a law be passed to punish those who indulge in such things.
You will be moving around freely and going about your day only to go on TikTok and see a video of you that you were recorded in while you were at it. Lately it's like we no longer have privacy because many of the videos I have even seen on TikTok mostly happen in restaurants and eateries; people can no longer eat freely for the fear of being recorded by so-called creators in the process of doing so and then having it called "fun." So I fully support that those who take recordings or pictures of others deliberately for content should be punished for infringement of privacy.
