People are always taking pictures and making videos in public places and sometimes you are just walking past, and minding your business, and before you know it, you are somewhere in the background of someone video, see this thing It happens a lot, and honestly, I don't think it is automatically a bad thing.
For me, I don't think random recordings are bad, just that the bad thing is when the video or picture they made is meant to embarrass you, invade your privacy, or expose something that should never have been on the internet in the first place.
There is something called photobombing, sometimes you are taking a picture with your friends, and another person accidentally walks into the frame, that person did not plan to be there, and neither did you, It is just one of those things that happen naturally in public places, i don't think someone should be arrested because another person happened to appear in the background of their picture or video.
That would make things unnecessarily complicated, imagine content creators, photographers, vloggers, journalists, or even tourists who simply want to capture a beautiful moment, It would be almost impossible for them to make content if they had to get permission from every single person who appeared in the background of their videos.
That would honestly be stressful, at the same time, I also believe there should be limits, just because someone is in a public place doesn't mean they have completely given up their right to privacy, for example, I seriously don't want to see a video of something I do privately on the internet at all.
That is something I will not tolerate, there is a huge difference between someone accidentally appearing in the background of a video and someone intentionally recording another person in a way that invades their privacy, those are two completely different situations.
If someone secretly records another person during a private moment just to post it online for views or to embarrass them, then I believe that is wrong.
Very wrong.
Nobody deserves to have their private moments turned into entertainment for strangers on the internet, unfortunately, social media has made this happen more often, when people see someone struggling, crying, arguing, or even having a medical emergency, and instead of helping, they pull out their phones and now start recording and before you know it, the video has gone very viral, meanwhile, the person in the video never agreed to be filmed or shared with millions of people see that, to me, is where the problem really lies.
I think our law should focus more on protecting people from harmful recordings rather than now banning all public recordings completely, there should be consequences for people who intentionally invade someone elses privacy or when they post videos that can damage another person reputation or safety.
But now making every random public recording a crime would also affect people who do genuinely create content without having any bad intentions, so for m I believe that there has to be a kind of balance, people should be free to create, take pictures, and also make videos in public spaces, but they should also respect the dignity and privacy of others.
And at the end of the day, because you have a camera in your hand ,that one does not now give you the right to just record everything and everyone without considering how it might affect them, being public does not mean permission to disrespect people, It just simply means we should all be more responsible with the way that we use our cameras and the content that we choose to share online.
