The Value of Bitcoin
For the majority, Bitcoin is either a technological breakthrough, an asset to speculate on, a store of value, but for me, it's more like an ideological framework that embodies a revolt against the fundamental idea of money and power, both of which are getting more corrupted each day.
It's a nice way of saying fuck you those who enslaved us and made us think it's actually our fault.
And while we can act as if nothing happened, there will come times when we will be FORCED to question the narratives of money and power.
Both of them have one point of failure and neither one of them represents the interest of the majority. Quite contrary, I would argue.
Given the fact I grew up in a highly corrupted, violently robbed, and viciously privatized country, the resentment towards any kind of state authority rose exponentially as I grew older. What bothers me though, is that people who are to blame for the current state of affairs have positioned themselves in a way where there's nothing we can actually do. To make things worse, those who made the mess in the first place are now leading the nation - LOL, it's kinda embarrassing.
Violent revolutions barely ever change things for the better, the only change is in the structure of power, but the principals remain the same. People don't get altruistic overnight, and even if one generation manages to maintain the integrity, the next generations will most likely get prone to errors in judgment.
It's impossible to disregard the fact that human history is a long terrible story, shaped mostly by violence and struggle for power.
What we've learned is that the best way to reduce the amplitude of human mistakes/corruption is to create a system that will operate under predetermined rules, supported by the majority of the network participants. The real, code-based democracy can prevent a dystopian world we are obviously heading to.
Bitcoin has shown the world that the economy can be driven in a decentralized, trustless, and transparent way. People don't give enough credit to transparency, which I consider to be the most powerful proposition.
Once transparency becomes a new normal, we will start seeing different, more fair wealth distribution - Until then, we are fucked.
