What a week it has been thus far. The first three days of it were as stressful and hectic as the prior long weekend had been relaxing.
It started with Monday basically being a twelve hour day, 7 to 7, no break, eating something while working. By the time I called it quits I was done. I am not thirty anymore and this shit is killing me.
Still, I had hopes for Tuesday. It is one of our two office days and I get to see the colleagues maybe have a chat with them. Good stuff. And that part of it was good. However, the work part - not so much. I can't really go into details, so you'll just have to trust me on it.
After a pretty short night of tossing and turning, I got up at six am this morning because I had an 8 am appointment and needed to be at the hospital at 7:40 am. It was a follow up to a mammogram I have had four weeks ago. They had found some scattered calcification that they wanted to check out further.
So, I got to the hospital in time and they took a gazillion mammogram pictures from all possible angles. Not fun as any woman who has had their annual mammograms can testify to but a necessary evil - though, of course, women are not inherently evil 馃槃. Mammograms come with the territory of being a woman.
Unfortunately, the second mammo pictures weren't conclusive enough so - ultrasound it is. Ouch, for some reason that actually hurt a little more than the mammogram. Okay, not really hurt that is too strong of a word, but I hope you know what I mean. Anyways, ultrasound done, in comes the doctor.
Well, there are some scattered calcifications which is not unusual if you are over fifty - but...
There it was, that little word but...
Turns out that they also found a cluster of dense calcification and, you guessed it, that is not so normal and they need to check it out further. Dense calcifications may be benign and no reason to worry yet they may also be something worse. Cancerous already or it could be the beginning stage of cancer. Per the doctor chances are 80/20 in favor for this to be benign. Fingers crossed!
I had a brief chat with the doctor and will to go back for a biopsy to know for sure what it is. But the even less fun part is that I will now have to wait four weeks for my biopsy appointment and then another five days for the results - that is absolutely no bueno! Some might call it cruel (I know hubby is even less a fan of it than I am...). First four weeks for the follow up mammogram, now another roughly five weeks to find out more from the biopsy.
You may ask, why am I writing this here on my blog? And, honestly, I'm not entirely sure. Mostly for myself I guess, you know writing things off your soul, being cathartic and stuff. But also to encourage anyone stumbling over my post to, please, always go to your check ups if you are able to. Because
Life is worth it.
Till next time!
Have a great rest of your day!
Cheers,
