The News

I was travelling last week and so did not get around to doing one of these posts. It is just fiddly to do long posts on a phone, but then the @Ecency app is pretty good so I posted about one of the old places we visited then. I have a load more to report on soon, but I like to spread out my posts.

The fiasco of the 'legacy coin' keeping up with $HIVE continues. We know which has the value, but the markets have yet to pick up on that. Things like HPUD do not seem to shift it, but even so, the volume of trades is not massive. It all comes down to what people will pay. I know some Hivers will sell all they earn, but they may need the money and have to live without gaining any influence here. They could still add value if they build active communities.

I saw that enginewitty@enginewitty started a conversation picked up by others. The post by apshamilton@apshamilton raised some good points about the real value of Hive. I am not really treating it as an investment right now, but I can find some great posts here and pass on rewards to those creators. What I make is pretty irrelevant apart from it increasing the value of my vote.

hivefest@hivefest is happening in Barcelona next week! I will not be there, but I will be following what goes on when I can. We should have some participation from around the world this time to make it more inclusive. Not everyone can afford to travel long distance, but I know some will be flying in from other continents.

shanibeer@shanibeer is setting up a UK meetup next month so I hope lots of people can get there. We need lots of local events so that everyone has a chance to meet other Hivers. If nobody else is doing it then consider taking the initiative. You really just need a time and a place with no need to spend lots of money.

Friday Follows

  • katharsisdrill@katharsisdrill is back on Hive after some offline time. He is giving away a book of (very) short stories with his very individual illustrations. Well worth a look.
  • I always enjoy posts from giampaolo19@giampaolo19. He is a professional drummer who has played with some big names. He has some cool gear that he shows off and is educating me on various aspects of his art.
  • sunsethunter@sunsethunter did a tutorial on how he recorded a Blink 182 cover song with free software tools. I have a lot to learn about that stuff and it is good to see such information on Hive. That post is coming up to payout so vote it up if you can. I would really rather you gave your votes to people I feature rather than me. I do not do any deals for exchanging votes anyway.
  • alessandrawhite@alessandrawhite and bitterirony@bitterirony have just moved house to New Hampshire. I hope they can find some other Hivers around there.

The End

Since I got back from travelling I have been catching up on a lot of things. There is always more on Hive than I can read, but keep it coming. There ought to be something for every interest. Find your community and if it does not exist, then create it!

I could do a 'dog house' about people who just comment on everything. I get that they are hunting for votes, but you will never earn much that way so find the stuff you enjoy and can really engage with. I am tending to give less votes if I do not sense genuine interest.

Have a great weekend and Hive five!
