Hoarding Dirt, Cobble, and other random junk
Well, it finally happened. I've started using precious Shulker Boxes for stashing dirt, cobblestone, and deepslate.
Now, later, when I get a Shulker farm going... that's probably not going to matter, but for right now this is a heinous misuse of our resources. A travesty that must be corrected!
And how do we correct this? Well, I could expand my existing storage room, and muck about down there more...
But, since the plan with this world has from the start been to break some of my usual cave-dweller habits, I thought it might be fun to create a dedicated storage warehouse for these items that I get a ton of but don't often use in bulk... and yet, don't want to throw away. I mean, what if I need to use 70,000 dirt to make a new island or some ungodly thing? Better hoard it just in case.
So, with that in mind... I looked up a few different medieval-ish looking warehouses, and opted to try out a design I liked the look of by a chap called TheMythicalSausage.
His build colours didn't vibe with me, but the structure's design sure did. So, with that in mind I set out to pick an ideal location for a warehouse.
After a bit of scouting around the base, I finally landed on a perfect little location that would pair nicely with a future build, and I set out the frame.
Bonus points for those of you who immediately see what I'm going to build after this, based on the location.
That done, it's time for the main frame/pillars to go up.
At this point, I was still not entirely sure what kind of building materials I'd use throughout, but I knew I wanted to go with a heavy amount of stone, and as such, I figured I'd build up the sides with a bunch of stone and just see how it looked in the end.
I know it's looking pretty drab right now, but there's a vision here so stick with me.
Right now, it's looking pretty plain and unremarkable. Ugly, even. But there's a plan to make that look a little nicer in the works...
Planter boxes!
These will go along the base of the two long sides, along with the little button decorations to give it a dash of colour, since we're going to be tying some brown into the build soon, as the roof goes on.
I think it's immediately looking a lot better just by adding the beginnings of the roof area. The bit of wood really helps make it a lot more interesting.
With that done, it's time to add a bit of a 'second story' type situation and add in another colour change with a few spruce logs and some tinted white glass.
And then the next order of business is to finally cap this all off with the rest of the roof!
The roof design is our old trusty staircase peak, and since the foundation is odd-numbered, it naturally forms a nice point in the center.
From the front, it's looking pretty great:
A great many giant spruce were harmed in the making of this building.
And a fly-over shot of the progress just for fun:
Now, with that done, the build calls for a nice little chimney up the back. While the original design used stone, I felt this was a great moment to use some classic red bricks, and I really like how it turns out.
Still lacking the campfire for a bit of smoke on top
With the campfire placed and a few minor additions (like some buttons along a stretch of a particularly low-light roof area), the outside is complete!
Complete, and... If I do say so myself... Looking pretty freakin' fine!
The inside I'm not spending a lot of time on, as it's going to be basically a wall of crates, but I do want it to look somewhat decent at least.
I'm not totally sold on the floor choice, but I wanted to try some kelp blocks and they look decent enough that for now at least I'm going to leave it.
And, with that... It's done! A sweet little warehouse to store all the crap I want to hoard, but that I don't use often enough for it to clutter up my main base!

As always... Until next time, Happy Gaming!
