Okay so, let's talk about this shitshow a bit, because if you think this isn't going to get worse - it will. The next target is already drawn, and it is aimed straight at contraception and LGBTQ rights. That's not a mistake.
Why? Well, partly it's about control. But why bother? Things have been going fine, haven't they? Let's don our tinfoil hats for a moment. Birth rates are declining in basically every 'first world' country. We're not - and haven't been - hitting 'replacement' rates for births for a while. Couple this with a decade+ of anti-immigration sentiment across the board, and a rising cry to nationalize instead of globalizing, and... well...
That's a problem. It's a problem because the capitalist machine requires bodies. It falls apart without cheap and ready labour, and we've already tapped much of the cheap labour forces available - countries that are also already or verging on failing to just make replacement births.
Now, the reasonable person would look at that and the reasons why this is happening in our countries (cost of living, healthcare, etc etc etc) and justifiably come to the conclusion that the answer is to increase worker wages such that it's easier to support a family on a single or mixed ft/pt pt/pt income(s). Remove the common blockades to raising a family. Lower the cost of education, make healthcare more affordable and easier to access, provide more affordable housing options, etc.
But, of course, that would cut into the profit margins of already multi-billion dollar corporations and obscenely wealthy individuals. Many of whom have the ears of those leading our countries, because of the totally-not-a-fucking-mistake lobby groups and other 'socially acceptable' channels with which we've allowed the wealthy to bribe our leaders.
So, what's the next best thing? Force people to have babies. Miscarriage is already actively illegal in some states, and with abortion no longer protected, it will be illegal in many states too. And, after that? Well, make non-baby-producing-stock illegal again - because, let's be real here, we're nothing but livestock to these fucks in power. And don't think for a hot second that if you're not in the US this isn't an issue for you. Canada is one election away from being in the same shitty situation. We (Can), and the UK/EU have seen a growing trend toward far-right politics and parties.
The government isn't on your side and doesn't care about you. Billionaires aren't on your side and they don't care about you. They are not our friends, any of them. From Gates to Musk, they're all shit-heels who rose where they are stepping on the necks of folks below them. Which we all are.
Is there a solution here? Probably. Is it through voting? Probably not, since all the votes in the world pale compared to a few 'generous donations'.
Our governments want to make us all into a new serf class, regardless of what "side" of the political spectrum we fall on, and they're using every means of dividing us that they can to pull it off. Tribalism isn't just magically fucking happening, it's being orchestrated because those that are in power need the left, the right, and everyone outside/in between to keep fighting ourselves so that we don't wake the fuck up and do something about it.
Fuck all of them, everywhere.
