One area of Splinterlands that I haven't explored is the guild. I decided to look into them again and see if there's any reason to join them.
Right now, the biggest reasons to join a guild are for the extra DEC rewards per battle and also for discounts at the shop.
Here's a screenshot of what you can expect if your guild has a level 9 lodge. An extra 15% DEC is definitely sweet and 8% off at the shops, i'm assuming it applies to card packs as well, is definitely worth something if you buy a lot of cards.
The bonus and discount depend on the level of your guild's lodge and lower level lodges can expect a lot less:
Now, if there was no cost associated with guilds, then it would be a no-brainer to join one. But guilds do demand members to donate some DEC and some even require a card donation.
Now, if you're playing in the diamond league then making a 1,000 DEC donation a week is probably no problem given how much you earn per battle but if you're making 10-15 DEC a battle, then you might want to consider carefully.
It isn't really clear what the contribution requirements are for the guilds and if there's one improvement that I'd like in the UI is for this to be specified clearly on the 'About' page of the guild.
All in all, from a monetary perspective, joining a guild can be beneficial for your earnings as long as the contributions do not drain you.
