Best regards Splinterlovers 💚
Guilds in Splinterlands are one of those steps every player must take if they want to take gameplay and progression in the game seriously, since a fundamental part of players’ growth and learning lies precisely in the “Guilds.” Of course, anyone who hasn’t joined a guild yet is not only missing out on learning but also on the rewards it offers. Of course, it’s not about joining just any guild, but that’s another topic. Don’t worry, though—I’ll explain everything in this post, at least in this first part.
In this post, the content I’ll cover is fairly basic but very necessary if you want to know how a “Guild” works—what it really is, what its benefits are, its structure (I’m referring to its “Buildings”), and an explanation of the tokens or coins that make it up. So, I’ll explain all the basics that any player should know about “Guilds,” since there are many players who don’t pay attention to this, and the reality is that it can really help you progress.
So if you want to know what “Guilds” are really all about—because playing alone isn’t the best option—stick around until the end of this post so you can understand how it all works:
What is a “guild,” and why shouldn’t you play alone?
A Guild in Splinterlands is a kind of alliance you form with other players who come together to pool their resources (DEC) to build and/or upgrade what would be their “Headquarters”—or what I would also call a “Fortress”—which consists of 6 complete structures. Basically, it’s about teaming up, where everyone works together to make the “Guild” much stronger and level it up through everyone’s collaboration.
Of course, that’s the gist of it—I could end the post right here since I’ve covered everything in this simple description. However, something you’re surely curious about is what the benefits are. In fact, many of you are probably only interested in this to figure out whether it’s worth it or not. Well, let me tell you: it’s totally worth it. But since I know you want to know, I’ll explain the benefits:
Benefits of Belonging to a Union
Access to Brawls (Guild Battles): This would be a sort of team-based “tournament” (Guilds) lasting approximately 5 days, where players earn Merits, Crowns, and SPS. The battle is against the other guilds in what are called “Frays.”
Gladiator SET Cards: Exclusive access to the Gladius card set, known for being the most powerful in the game thanks to the ability called Bloodlust. These cards can also be used occasionally in “Ranked Matches and Tournaments.”
Glint Multipliers and Discounts: Increased Glint points earned in ranked battles and discounts on purchases in the game’s official store through the “Building” called the Lodge.
Internal Card Loan: Access to the Guild Library to use cards loaned by your teammates during Brawl battles. This is a great feature that really helps when you’re missing certain cards for battle, since—as I mentioned in the “Guilds” section—there are “Frays,” and that’s where you fight based on the SETS you can use in that particular “Fray.”
How Do You Join a Union?
It’s extremely easy for any player to join a guild—just go to the “Guild” section in the game interface, and you’re all set. To make your search easier, there are three types:
Open: These are the most accessible “Guilds,” requiring no approval from the guild “Leader.” It’s very easy, but at the same time, these are the least rewarding and least competitive.
By Request: These are guilds where you must send a message expressing your intention to join, explaining your reasons, your collection level, and your daily activity, since you’re expected to be very active.
Language and Tier: Finally, you can filter by language—whether Spanish, English, or another—and search by guild level or “Tier.” Joining based on level or “Tier” is the most difficult because these guilds generally already have everything they need.
NOTE: Finally, be sure to check the entry requirements, since some guilds only require you to complete your daily battles or make a regular donation of “Guild Power.”
Anatomy of the Guilds (The 6 Buildings and Their Functions)
As the subtitle states, “Guilds” are divided into 6 buildings, each of which plays an essential role within the game, though each has its own specific role and essence within the “Guilds.” To help you understand better, I’ll describe them below:
- Guild Hall: Determines the member limit and maximum level.
- Lodge: You can earn Glint Bonuses and discounts here.
- Arena: Enables Brawls against other Guilds.
- Barracks: Grants Combat Tactics that can be used to gain an advantage.
- Store: Unlocks Gladius Cases and multiplies Merits.
- Library: Allows members to lend and borrow cards among themselves.
The 3 Exclusive Coins of the Guild Ecosystem
In order to raise the level of all guild buildings, gain access to the exclusive “Guilds-only” store, and collaborate more effectively as a team, there are three main tokens used to make the entire system work. That’s why, in the table below, I’ll explain how each one works:
| Token / Currency | How to Obtain | Main Use | Is It Tradable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crowns | Collective reward for victories in Brawls [24, 32]. | Used by leaders to level up the Arena and other buildings [24, 32, 83]. | ❌ No (Guild-exclusive) [24] |
| Merits | Individual participation in Brawls or reward chests [24, 61, 78]. | Purchase Gladius Cases from the Guild Store (Level 2+) [24, 60, 69]. | ❌ No (Soulbound to the account) [24, 61] |
| Guild Power (GP) | Purchased with DEC or DEC-B and donated to buildings [71]. | Construction points required to level up each structure [31, 71]. | ❌ No (Bound to the building) [3, 71] |
Conclusion
This brings me to the end of the first part of this series of posts, in which I’ll explain how “Guilds” in Splinterlands work from scratch. Of course, there’s much more to cover, but stay tuned for the next posts, because in Part 2 we’ll go into a bit more detail about how a “Guild” works internally, along with some additional information.
I invite everyone to join Splinterlands, the best game based on chains of blocks, full of adventures, battles, and strategies where you will have fun and get rewards according to your league
