So the other day I was talking about indiscipline among this 21st century students in school. The truth about human beings in general is that, most human being like abusing privileges. Now talking about allowing the use of phone in classroom, to me it's another means of bringing problem and indiscipline into the classroom and it will also make classroom management difficult for teachers.
Students of now a days abuse privilege a lot , so even if you give them permission to use phone in class for a certain period, you will notice that they will gradually start breaking the rules and will be using the phone even while instructions is going on. Take example for now, phones are not permitted in schools and that is clearly known by the students and parents, but in my school the other day, you see students coming to school with phone and some will even leave the class, stay outside and be listening to music, watching movies with the phone while classes is going on.
My friend who is a teacher in one other school, complained the other day , still about the same phone issues. He seized a phone from a student and the students went home brought the parents and siblings to the staff quarters to harass the teacher just to get back his phone, if not for the intervention of other staff , we don't know what would have happened. The teacher told them that the student must be punished before getting the phone back, but they objected.
Now imagine giving official permission for phones to be brought to school, then the level of indiscipline will drastically increase. For me the use of phone in a school is a no . Teachers should concentrate in managing the indisciplinary behavior that is already in school, another one should not be added. In as much as I know that phone can also aid learning in school, but looking at the other aspect of it, you will find out that it's also a big distraction. So students who wishes to use phone for learning should do that at home, they can use it to get more knowledge about a topic that was taught, they can use it for research and to complete their assignment. But using it in school is a BIG NO.
