Generations only exist in the abstract concepts of demographers and historians. They are like countries on the map. We can look at a map of the USA, maybe Milwaukee, Wisconsin, (shout out to Milwaukee), and we can read about the humans that live there, their customs, habits, industries and the forces and origins that shape what we might call a, “Milwaukee vibe.” Everyone who lives in Milwaukee wasn’t born in that city, and not everyone who was born there, still resides there.
Super Power Tuesday. Flex’em up mi gente. It’s another day to strike your power pose and unleash your inner super powers. Only positive affirmations today. Make it a point to avoid, (avoidance is an art), denigrating thoughts about yourself. If you’re feeling blue, lie to yourself. Say, “I am happy today!” As if you’re saying, “To infinity and beyond!”
“I got this!”
“Ain’t nothin’ gonna break my stride!”
What we must do, as the resistance, is flip the record and use the same tactics and strategies that the Beast System uses against us, to our benefit.
If someone accuses you of slacking, or being down, use your super power to resist the low vibe.
How do we do this?
Your humble vagabond’s super powers consist of sarcasm, curiosity, weaponized indifference, dark humor and a few others that we can choose from in different situations.
This is from the “Lifestyle Jujitsu” file. If you are in a recurring environment, where you can expect to see the same humans with the same issues and the same one-liners, you have an idea of what to expect. There’s a smart-ass in every shop. There’s a bully. (All in matters of degrees.) It’s just like in the movies. Somehow these types are put in the same environment and have to work together. At some point, you will be “attacked.” (This is western hyperbole. Granted.) Sometimes the attacks are subtle, and seem like “ice breakers.” Maybe the attacker is bored, and noticing something slightly different about your routine, and they just can’t help but comment.
This may disappoint you, but there will be no specific dialogue provided. Just abstracts. What this human identifies as super powers, may not work for others. And since we generate masculine energy, any “advice” we would dare to provide to the divine feminine would be incorrect. We do know however, that we all have these super powers that can be used to defend our, “psyches,” (or “nervous systems”), against attacks.
And Tuesday is the day we remind you to exercise that skill. Even if it’s “uncomfortable silence” followed by a stare.
Back to Generations.
By the time We really got into demographics, this envity was already on the back-end of a career, so I kind of picked it up as a hobby.
To recap; Generations are unreal in the sense that we can’t reach out and touch them. However they are real in the sense… maybe a psychological, or behavioral sense, that we, (observers and mental manipulators) can observe and measure the effect these cohort clusters have on the culture. Examples abound.
Strauss & Howe, authors of “Generations…” and other such books in the series, noted that generations can be divided by great events. Great meaning big, and not, “very good.” For example if you were born in 1855 in the Southern US, as opposed to being born in 1865. If you lived past your fifth birthday, you certainly would have been aware of the Civil War. However, someone born during the final year of the war would have no recollection of that history, and would be limited to stories, fantasies and perhaps romantic images of the war.
This brings us to the Generational divide between Millennials and Gen Zee.
[Note. We reject the “commercial demographer’s” 1996 date as the first cohort of Gen-Zee, but what do we know?]
For Gen-Zee, 9 11 has always been history. Those born in 1996, while not yet at the age of reason, would have experienced the event by way of their parents’ and care-giver’s reactions and anxiety. Not so for those born in 2002, forward.
Common experiences are what binds Generations together. We see this displayed on social media all the time. For example, Star Trek actor, (we must emphasize that this is the “original Star Trek series” we are referring to), Walter Koenig passed away yesterday or a few days ago, at the age of 90. Star Trek, which aired from 1966 to 1969, was very much a Boomer series. Early-born Gen X, (or what a friend calls, “Boomer Babies”), may have caught the original series if they had older siblings, or “Trekkie parents,” but would not have had the experience or appreciation for the references the series made to American culture and history, as their elders did.
What your humble scribe keeps in mind, as we reach out to Gen-Zee, is that the event that draws a clear and stark border between them and their elders, is a tragic and controversial event, that they, the cluster born from 2002 onward, have certainly been lied to about.
[Another note. It’s important to keep our heads about this, (especially my own head), because these abstracts can easily carry us away. Not every human born post 9 11 gets the same info, or is raised with the same perspective. Generational experiences are not cohesive. They are a few millions of humans maturing, through their respective lifetimes and having human experiences.]
From our Simulatrix.
We feel that Gen-Zee is a captured generation.
How so? And by whom?
The short answer is, “The Market.” Maybe more specifically, the tech/social media market. What we’ve observed over the past 30 years, is a population that has become more dependent on hand-held devices with trackers and tracers, for the protection of children, peace of mind for parents, and data for the system. Calling this 21st century tech a double-edged sword, is stating the obvious. Just about everything these days can be described as such. No one, in our experience, creates single use technology. The money, ironically, is the least valuable concept in the system. Humans are sold peace of mind and convenience. The sponsors are sold data, the predictability of a captured audience, and perhaps a certain level of control.
Your humble scribe is not a parent, or grandparent of tweens or teens. We don’t have the first-hand experience or needs to have track-n-trace apps. We have no need for third party apps to operate our business, provide accounting services, or inform us of where the next Antifa riot will spontaneously erupt. This is our version of off-the-grid. We observe from afar. We are looking at a map. Maybe a map of Milwaukee, where someone, somewhere in that city might be tracking their free-range child as he or she rides the school bus home.
Beep alert. 2 30 pm. “Shakira has boarded the school bus.”
Beep alert. 2 37 pm. “The school bus has departed, traveling at 25 mph, along Schoolhouse lane. ETA 3 pm.”
Beep alert. 2 50 pm. “Delay at railroad crossing. Approximately 10 minutes.
Beep alert. 3 10 pm. “Shakira has arrived home, 10 minutes late due to delay at railroad crossing.”
The system gets the same information you get.
Imagine two generations, born in this century, growing up with this kind of, “security.”
