Nerd By Northwest #305 – “Flying High”

This one was inspired by two recent events. The first was during our trip back to Alaska early this year, when I happened to rent a car that had a very... distinct... smell. Like Denver and Seattle and a growing number of places in the US, weed was legalized in Alaska and so there's a fair bit of 'marijuana tourism' going on there. While I don't partake myself, I think it's actually a good thing it's legal... I just wish the weed tourists wouldn't light up in the damn rental car. Just saying it's kinda awkward trying to explain that smell to one's 8-year-old daughter... 😕
The second was on our flight back from that same US trip, seeing my son glued to his phone and the seat-back TV for the entire trans-Pacific crossing. I swear, if Superman had been a late-Millennial or Generation-Z he'd be flying around Metropolis staring down at his phone the whole time. You think distracted driving is bad, just imagine distracted flying by a super-being! He'd be flying into buildings, TV towers, and all kinds of crap while checking his Twitter feed or taking in-flight selfies. 😏
