Couple weeks ago I posted about Traditional Coloring Methods I was trying out for my comic book.
Thought I'd follow that up with the first page of the comic book! I actually drew this quite a while ago, probably around 2 years now. I have 7 pages of this particular story which introduces Eddy. I also have about 3 pages of another story that introduces a couple other major characters. I was planning to do a sort of anthology-like book. Where I basically just do short stories of 6-12 pages each, put 4-6 of them in one book. They'd all take place in my world called Yorvar. Sometimes the stories would cross over of course but not always. And being a very central character, this was to be page #1.
Unfortunately a lot of life stuff has happened recently and making my comic book has both been difficult to get to but also risen in my mind as a possible way out of some of my problems... which probably doesn't make sense but either way, I've been rethinking a lot of stuff now.
One thing I've planned all along with this is to self print/publish. I want it to have that old-school hand made feel in general and what better way to do that than actually print it myself as well. I think this gives me some flexibility in my format and distribution options as well. But does lead me to another issue...
I've been mauling over changing the format from an anthology of short stories to an actual monthly title style thing, not that I will do very well keeping up with it monthly, but I mean just in format. A standard 24ish page floppy comic book, printed by me. The biggest problem with this is shipping. The cost to ship a floppy comic book is going to double the cost of a floppy comic book! Who would want to buy that...
So now I'm back to the dilemma of trying to go thicker books to make shipping worth it... vs trying to figure out other ways to either ship the books or provide value to a customer interested enough to buy the book directly from me.
Of course most of this is moot considering I have no fanbase or following to sell the book to but... still. I can dream right? I mean... plan ahead. 😂
