Had this friend a decade ago who for some strange reason wanted a PSP (a PlayStation Portable). His parents could not afford one but that did not deter my friend. He wanted a PSP and he never missed out on an opportunity to share this dream with his friends, and you know what? He got one a few years down the line.

It was funny and refreshing to see someone achieve something they were deemed almost impossible at some point (out of nothing but belief). His parents did not become rich, neither did his ability increase. The gaming console came through a relative.

There is a popular belief in my culture that when you talk about the things you want, you end up not getting those things. So you say there is a kind of natural law that punishes people for talking too much. Even the stoic believe the same thing. More action and fewer words they say, but then how do we quantify words?

We do not see the value in sharing. When I ask people why they don’t share their dreams with the people in their sphere, I often get answers like: “Oh, I don't want to jinx it.” Thus it is safe to say that people don’t share out of fear–fear of rejection; fear of theft, fear of embarrassment, fear of failure etc

If I have learnt anything in life, it is that fear is oftentimes a destructive force. It can also create problems that do not exist. People who often act on their fears end up making wrong decisions. We have instances throughout history to prove my point.

The best antidote for fear is optimism. When you are optimistic about your dreams and aspirations you tend to share them and by doing so you crystallize them in your mind. In other words, your goals become more vivid and detailed.

Most people want things they have not clearly defined and sharing can be the test to foolproof the things you want and by doing so we sell our dreams to other people who become invested in seeing them come to fruition.

There is no scientific backing to what I am about to say next but I have seen this play out in life numerous times. You often hear a lot of motivational speakers say this as well and it is overly simplified and abused. However, when used correctly can yield positive results. This entails speaking things into existence.

A couple of months ago I wanted to purchase a vehicle. I had no means of achieving that within the timeframe I wanted but it was something I wanted and I was going to get. I had spoken to my partner about it consistently. I even drafted out a plan to purchase one in the next 6 months. It happened a month after.

Somehow the universe had conspired to turn my dream into reality. It did not 66666655t5 Ty p the way I planned. However, when I spotted the opportunity I took it and the rest is history. That’s the major benefit of sharing–it opens your subconscious mind to opportunities you would ordinarily be blinded to if you were not actively talking and thinking about your goals.

Sometimes the opportunity comes from a third party. Never miss an opportunity to share your dreams or passion with people (who are genuinely interested in you). Some of my first gigs as a content creator came through people I had shared my vision and passion with.

In a nutshell, there are so many benefits of sharing. Put yourself and your dreams out there. That might be all you need to move to the next level in your career/business.
