POB-WOTW: SHOWCASE POST (PART 2).

Hello everyone, welcome to another showcase post of the top entries in the Proof-of-Brain Word-of-the-week challenge.

Last week we started by showcasing the first 9 winners of the POB-WOTW challenge (here is a link to the previous post). We also added a little twist by inviting past winners to select words for Word of the Week 2022.

This week we will be showcasing the winners of the POB-WOTW from the 10th-19th weeks of the contest. These winners are to kindly share a word (not more than 7 letters) which will be added to the wordpool and potentially drawn for an upcoming week.

Without further ado, let's get the show started!

WEEK 10

This was an interesting week for the POB-WOTW challenge. There was no actual word for the week, neither was there any clue on what the entrants were supposed to write about. This was supposed to nudge participants to think for themselves and it did just that.

@thomashnblum won the 10th week’s challenge with his post, THE WHALE ISLAND THEATER. In this post, Thomas talks about a mythical Island where whales are entertained for rewards. Sounds familiar? Well, it is a very relatable story with lessons to learn.

WEEK 11

The theme for the 11th week of the WOTW contest was ‘consistency’. Entrants came up with creative posts explaining what consistency meant to them. @minepoly won first place with his post, A Perfect Gravy.

It wasn't the typical type of post you would expect. This is one of the beautiful things about WOTW contest, creators come up with unique and interesting ways of sharing their message.

Mineopoly used his knowledge of science and his culinary skills to prepare an insightful post explaining the importance of consistency. He was also able to link it all together with our Hive/POB experience. It is a beautiful piece of writing and I enjoyed reading it again. It certainly is a must-read for all of us, as it highlights the important role we all play in the development and sustainability of the blockchain.

WEEK 12

I must say this was one of the most awkward weeks as a grader for the POB-WOTW challenge. The theme of this week's challenge was “sensual” and as expected, I stumbled across a lot of adult contents. Some were funny, some bordered on the cringy at times.

Thankfully, @alekst7 gave us a fresh perspective of the word ‘sensual’ in his post, Oversensitivity Is Not Weakness!. The author uses his personal experience and his knowledge of psychology to explain the merits of sensitivity.

WEEK 13

We seldom find moments of intense inspiration, where an idea hits us like a stone at the back of the head, spurring us to achieve great feats of understanding or creativity. In this week, we explored that eureka experience giving authors the opportunity to share theirs. It was nothing short of amazing.

@alekst7 retained his top position with another masterpiece he titled: Eureka: The Wisdom Of The Unkown. In this post, alekst7 touches on the following concepts: insight and intuition in relation to the eureka moment. He also went further to explain the types of eureka moments we experience as human beings. A very detailed post I must say.

WEEK 14

Week 14 marked the beginning of @calumam’s short hiatus from the POB community, which forced @scholaris and me to take on the leadership mantle (kudos to him for doing most of the work). @amr was also helpful during this time, providing the WOTW team with the stats we required.

‘Causality’ was the theme of this week’s challenge and we had a range of unusual entries to fit the bill. @dibitch won the contest with her post titled, Casualty due to casuality. It was a short pictorial post explaining cause and effect in relation to the POB community. The author used her artistic skill and humour to create an entertaining and educational piece.

WEEK 15

Again, @alekst7 took the top spot with his post, The Spectrum of All Humainity. This was his third win in four weeks–the best winning streak in the history of the WOTW contest.

In his post, @alekst7 talks about the diversity of the human race and how we are related or connected in more ways than one. He ends the post on a poetic note which catches my fancy.

WEEK 16

As a grader/content consumer/curator, it is an onerous task to go through large volumes of content daily, most of which are underwhelming with little or no creative spark.

However, week 16 was the best week I had as a grader because I read one of the greatest posts on the Hive blockchain by @mineopoly, titled Evolution of Paradise.

I didn't have to reread this post because I remember vividly just how I felt reading this post the first time around. This is the impression I want to leave on my readers. It's what we should all aspire for as creators.

WEEK 17

We've all met people who touch our lives in a unique way. In this week’s contest, we explore this connection as entrants share details of their companion. At the end of the week, @samsmith1971 emerged victorious with her entry: Home before the leaves fall.

Smith’s post was a short story about two strange youngsters who shared an intimate moment on the battlefield. It is a well-thought-out piece with an interesting narrative.

WEEK 18

Last but not the least is the 18th week of the POB-WOTW with the theme: Solitude. I remember grading this post and what really stood out for me was the beautiful art and monologue.

@d-pend won this week's contest with his post, Solitudinous which is a story about a man who found solace in solitude and the series of events that led him to a point where he had to detach himself from the world.
