However, I have observed that many do not know how to leave valuable comments and by valuable I mean comments that deepen the conversation initiated by the author. It is important to leave good feedback. I deem it a good way to build relationships.
I was able to grow my audience via meaningful exchanges. It is an interesting way to get people curious about your account. So I put considerable effort into commenting.
Unfortunately, many see commenting as a means to earn passive upvotes, esp from the tribe tokens. A few see it as a number game--i used to at some point. Whatever the case may be, I think you can achieve your goal with some effort.
So when I used to read a lot of content to leave meaningful feedback, I meant it as a point of duty to enjoy what I read. It is often easy to leave a decent comment under a piece you read. Also, there is no point in doing something you don't enjoy.
I will admit, it is difficult to have a good reading because I encountered a lot of boring posts. However, I try to find the central idea behind the post. This eliminates the distractions in the post and allows me to give meaningful feedback.
Another thing I do is read through the comment section. In a well-engaged post, you very find insightful comments and conversations you join. This way you get to connect with people other than the author.
Be sincere. I think it is quite easy to read through someone who is trying to stroke your ego. Don't be afraid to challenge the author's point of view. This sort of feedback is usually valued in the long run.
In conclusion, I believe engagement can be a useful way to build rapport, influence, and even earn decent upvotes. The best approach is to enjoy giving feedback. Notwithstanding, whatever your motive is, I believe you can achieve it if you put in a little effort rather than leaving one-liners and generic comments. Cheers!
