Yesterday I spent the entire day complaining about the economic situation in my country. Today I want to put some positive thoughts into the universe and show a little gratitude. As much as I love to be realistic by highlighting everything that can and will go wrong, I also think it is equally as important to mention the many other things that have been going well and will go well.
So let's start with the first thing I am grateful for, Hive. This place has become a haven for me. Asides from providing me with several means of earning I do have the creative freedom to express my thoughts and feelings without fear. It means a lot to me that a space like this exists for creators.
For someone who is genuinely interested in content creation, this place has afforded me the tools and a testing ground for my creative endeavour. I look around me and all I have to create content can be traced back to Hive, and I can experiment with creative ideas I would be reluctant to share on Web 2 platforms like Twitter and Tiktok.
I am also grateful for the options I have. I stopped by the ridesharing business about a month ago and I have not felt the impact. At some point, I felt I could not survive without the business but it was given so much (and taking far more). However, it is a month now. My days of frustration and stress are gone. I can focus on the things I care about and still plan for the future. It's funny how I was earning three times more than I earn now but could not save anything for a full year. I get shivers whenever I think about it.
I can not quantify how happy I am for being happy. For almost a year I was fighting for my life all because I ventured into a business I knew little to nothing about. It wasn't even the pressure of the business (which I had somehow begun to embrace) but the end result. One could make a lot one week and spend it all the following week on something silly like fines or repairs. I am glad to be out of that mess.
Also, for the first time in a long while, I am optimistic about the future. Yes, I may complain about the state of my country but I know I will be fine. I understand that these are challenging times globally but I know I will come out of it strong. I am also grateful for the privilege I have. Many people do not have the option to stop and reinvent themselves like I can and I do not take this for granted.
Lastly, I am thankful for my family and network of friends across the globe. They've proven to be invaluable in times like this when everything seems to be going south. I have had little to no pressure from family these past few weeks which have been critical for my sanity. Also the very few people I know have been supportive in their little way. Shout out to @mistakili and
@josediccus , they've been instrumental in recent wins.
In a nutshell, I am grateful for the life I have. There are obvious challenges which are expected but I don't think I would want it any other way. Cheers!
