I'd prefer slow, steady, and long lasting existence, over something like being preserved then brought back a thousand years later. Imagine how much of a shock it would be to enter an entirely new world after taking a long nap. No amount of preparation would help. Even something as simple as your native tongue would be completely rearranged.

Side note on time travelers. Anyone who ever claims to be one would have a thick accent like nothing you've heard before. No way around that.
