A day out with a friend who is going through a hard time—walking and shopping./ Un día fuera con un amiga que está pasando por un momento difícil: pasear e ir de compras.
Good morning, blog friends—how are you? Here I am with you again; I was away yesterday because I had a packed day, and I’m actually a bit tired and have a bit of a cold today, too, given the change of season. Anyway, yesterday I went to help a friend who has just broken up with a truly horrible man—someone who insulted her and even laid a hand on her on a few occasions. Like all toxic relationships, it took her a long time to break free from this monster—calling him a "man" is an insult to real men. Naturally, she was hurting—and still isn't doing great—so I decided to visit her yesterday to take her mind off things, help her figure out her next steps, and remind her that she isn't alone. We started by browsing a few Chinese shops to buy some odds and ends; sometimes, buying cheap little things helps lift your spirits, and those shops are full of inexpensive items.
We spent the whole day together, which gave her a chance to vent; we also contacted a pro bono lawyer specializing in women's rights, who immediately scheduled an appointment for the next day—hopefully, she’ll get the help she needs with the legal issues surrounding her difficult separation. To unwind, we took a walk in the neighborhood—a fairly quiet area with fields and a few houses—where we could talk calmly and enjoy the peaceful scenery. Then we went to her place, where she immediately put up the items she’d bought at the Chinese shop; Halloween is just around the corner, so decorations are on sale everywhere, and my friend—who loves them—had picked up quite a few things like ghosts, themed cushions, and so on. I helped her set them up as a surprise for her son when he got back from sports practice, and he absolutely loved them. Now that I have my own place, I’m thinking I should probably buy some decorations too, though things are still chaotic from the move and I’m not sure if I should add more clutter—still, I might get a ghost or two to hang outside. For dinner, none of us felt like cooking, so the three of us went to grab something everyone likes: delicious slices of various types of pizza that we devoured right away. It was a lovely day, and I was so happy that she’s finally left that nasty man. That’s all for now, blog friends—see you soon!
