In this post, I took a photo with one of the female clerics in Indonesia. Can be called a teacher. I want to reflect a little, if social media, especially TikTok, contains a lot of easy-to-digest information. Moreover, there is a trend that the first reference is TikTok. This means that the first learning space is through social media. Don't we need books and a teacher?
I just resigned from an NGO in Indonesia. Very well-known in Indonesia, but to learn advocacy in society, make a number of agreements with the government and convey something easy in society is not enough with technology. We need a mentor and books.
Information from TikTok is delivered by content creators, it's just that we need to be skeptical, is it an advertising order? Or information based on their personal experience. If it sounds like an advertisement, then other arguments are needed.
On the other hand, there are content creators who accept advertising offers from the government, sometimes pushing the facts on the ground. Indonesia has a case, the development of the New Capital City was narrated by content creators so that it had a positive narrative about the government, which at that time the public had negative sentiments towards the government.
This means that facts or ease of knowledge need to be cross-checked and asked directly to experts. Content creators who have many followers do not necessarily have knowledge in that field. We need to switch to a technology called AI, which provides information.
I once used Gemini and ChatGPT technology to search for data on procurement in Indonesia. How were the search results? It turned out that the data I got from the two AIs was not valid. Gemini and ChatGPT displayed 'fake' data about the data provided. This means that we need to find other accurate sources such as books and journals.
From the discovery of these facts, I often don't believe one hundred percent if I find data from ChatGPT and Gemini. AI is a human-made technology. It can also display data incorrectly. What about teachers or mentors? He is someone who helps our mindset including our way of seeing things become clearer.
For example, fallacy of logic, it can happen to us even though we have read books. Then, we often find sneers at victims of sexual violence just because their clothes are not covering enough. In fact, it is not the victim's clothes that are the fault, but the perpetrator's head.
As great leaders, we still need mentors, teachers, and books amidst the ease of technology that exists. That's all that can be told, see you in other stories.
