Salvation comes directly from God, the kind of religion or organisation which we join doesn't have impact in our salvation. While religion can help people learn about God, worship with others, and grow spiritually, it is not religion itself that saves. Salvation is a gift of God's grace received through faith in Christ.
Christians are expected to live a good life so that non believers can learn to emulate their good act. True Christianity is more than outward religious practices; it is a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Therefore, religion alone cannot save, but a living faith in Christ produces a life devoted to God and His teachings.
