How long can I actually stay without my phone? 馃. If I should be sincere here, then I will tell you for free that I have been asking myself this question genuinely after reading the prompt description without a genuine answer to my humble self, lol.
How do I explain that my phone is already an extension of my body, lol, like I sleep and wake up with my phone? It's like my second pillow even when I know the position is unhealthy, but yet the attachment is something else. My phone is like a baby in my hand, always active even at midnight. In fact, I hate to see that my phone battery is down because that moment will be so boring 馃榾 until I charge it again.
Even when there is nothing serious to do with my phone, I will hold it and keep scrolling through different apps and platforms, and it simply makes me feel alright.
Personally, my phone is not just for calls, scrolling through social media, chatting with friends, etc. There are a lot I can do with my phone, and I am sure it's the same for many other people. Talk about writing as I am doing here; I am always with my phone, researching, making videos, capturing pictures, etc.
So, can I stay for hours without touching my phone or laptop?
Yes, I can... but let me not lie, it must be intentional and with someone by my side to give account of it to, otherwise I may not reach the finished line on this game 馃槀.There are days, though, occasional ones, that I will be so busy with family duties, a series of church activities, the kitchen duty, and lots more that make me forget that I own a phone for many hours, but then, once I am a bit free, I want to grab my phone to check for missed calls, chats, messages, emails, and more.
Like, it's difficult not to open my Hive account daily to peep on my wallet, check for any possible upvote and payouts to claim, hahaha. Or maybe reply to notifications and social media stuff, and the list continues. And then before you know it, what was supposed to be a five-minute check will turn to hours of phone usage without getting tired 馃榾, and then, permit me to think that the way I depend on my phone for many things is quite interesting.
Sometimes what I need is not necessarily the phone but just something to keep my mind busy and less worried.
Let's imagine sitting in a place occupied with thoughts without any music or social media notifications to check on, just you,it's boring for real.
But then, I also think there are moments we need to put our phones down and genuinely relate with people around us and have meaningful connections without interruption. Bond with our kids, take a walk, study the Bible and pray, and think and reflect about life.
All these are activities I do with intentions, at times without a phone for, like, 4 to 6 hours most times, and I think it is necessary no matter how much technology has made life easier for us; sometimes we should enjoy the company of others without the screen. Get to do things that are necessary because indeed, a lot is also happening away from the screen
